With LED's easy on/off abilities. Im wondering if there would be any benefit to running a 4 on/1 off schedule or something similar instead of going 18/6. I can see this helping with heat management for some people, but mostly what Im wondering is if there would also be a benefit to the plant, with more frequent, but shorter rest breaks from the intense light. Has anyone ever done a side by side grow, using 2 tents and everything the same, except light cycles, for experimental purposes? Maybe you could get the same growth, using less electricity and generating less heat...

It sounds like a lot of work. I'm forgetful and lazy but I'll follow along if someone tries it

Try the Gas Lamp Method dont know exactly the Veg cycle of that(need to take a look at the other forum iam) but for flowering it says 10 on 14 off i tried it once with my blue dreams and they were alot bushier than under normal cycles and went faster thru the preflowering stage with finishing total a week earlier than 18/6 12/12 cycle...thx for reminding i will try this one with some clones of my Soliloqueens soon.

Do not do this with autos.Hermie/stunt Alert its not good to give a auto more darkness than light it will only cause problems.

I dont think it would be much more work, just set up a digital timer to take care of it.
Probably would be best to do this with clones taken from the same auto, then you could really keep everything identical, except the light cycle.

It would just confuse the plants clock.I f you are using LED lights, power use and heat should not be a problem unless you have multiple units and a poor fresh air and exhaust system. Just stick with what has been proven to work \,you will be better off.

give it a shot treeman. even if its only with one plant under a cfl in a cabinet. one never knows. heck I may try it myself but not with the led yet.
