Hi All

This will be my first ever grow attempt. It is a bit of an experiment to see if it works. If I am lucky enough to get a crop at the end of it, it is for personal use only so high yield is less important than stealth.

I have 3 NLA seeds that I will be germinating after the weekend (1st may) I am going away at the weekend so don't want to leave them and something go wrong.

The plan is to have the seedlings on a windowsill before planting outdoors in a veg garden. I am at 54 Lat approx

I had a look at the forum how too. Here are the details recommended to give on forum

Space - Out door plot in veg garden aprox 14ft sq

Light - South facing with 8-10 hrs sunlight per day

Medium - Soil, the plan is Westmorland with added John Inns mixed with perlight (advice welcome)

Nutrients - I don't have a plan yet. Any UK recommendations ???

Special Equipment - Non as yet

Any advice or help would be very welcome. I have been reading lots of forums and video's so have started to get a picture of some of the things I need to be thinking about. As an absolute beginner its all a bit over welming.

Thanks

Tomato feed is good for flowering. Look at npk on the label higher n is better for veg. Just try it with less than stated. You probably won't need any nutes till 2nd or 3rd week.

THANKS suggz. I have been having a look into the nutez :Nope:"Stirring"

As stated in the description I am an absolute beginner. I could use a bit of advice on getting ready for the seedlings

Do I need to do anything special to the soil before putting the germinated seeds in ?

Should I use the same soil as I will when the plants are bigger ?

Do I mix perlight in at this point or when potting on ?

Just another thought, you should get a ph meter (pen). You will need this to check the ph level of your water. You need a ph level between 6.0 and 6.8. I aim for 6.5. You can pick up 1 for a few pounds off Ebay. If you need to bring down the ph, lemon juice or clear vinegar are good. If you want to up the ph then use calcium carbonate. If your using tap water you need to leave it in an open container for 24 hours. Tap water contains chlorine and that will harm/kill your plants. Leaving it for 24 hours will remove the chlorine.

Hi Early girl. I germinate using 2 folded wet paper towels and place them in the airing cupboard. Once they have sprouted I usually put them in coco noir pellets. These pellets grow to about 5 times there size when they had been soak with water. I also roll them between my finger and thumb to break them ip a bit inside. I hade problems with the tap root shooting up instead of down. You can use a bit of compost with some perlite in a small pot or straight in a bigger pot. :Sharing One:

perlite is always important as it helps with drainage and helps root development. Also it helps more air get to the roots.

I always add vermiculite as well as perlite, but always twice as much perlite. I also add bone meal and used dryed coffee grounds to my mix.

You can an use same mix as when you started but i tweak it with other ingredients later so it has a good start for flowering.

Also when I start with the seedlings I just use water with a small amount of rooting hormone, about half a teaspoon to a litre of water and ph balance the water.

Good luck with the grow and any more questions, I will be happy to answer them if I can. I'm not the most experienced grower but happy to help.

P.S. there is lotof great info on here, so have a good look

No worries. I have not long started a nl x bb and auto skunk mass. Ive have lost the labels so I don't know which one is which. So please post plenty of photos so I can do a comparison. Happy growing!

Just a quick up date.

I have been researching and have decided to use a propagator. What water to use is giving me a head ache at the moment? Should I collect rain water? As that is what they will be getting out side. And anyone in the UK will appreciate that this weekend is a good time to be collecting loll. I guess I need to order some litmus paper to do ph. on water as I doubt the soil one will be any good!

I will be starting the girls on Sunday night or Monday when I get back from a trip. My other seeds for the veg garden are coming on nicely, I just can’t wait to get started on the main attraction :Sharing One:
