Indoor Northern Lights Auto x 5 do they look ok??

Awesome. I thought so too. Just sticking with water for a few weeks. I added a few cfls for a total of 3 -300w (68w)actual watts just around the edges of the tent so all plants get light from it. I have yet to turn my hps off this early..... To afraid of drastic change.

13 days in. very green

Just about two weeks in. I think they are looking pretty good.

Stopped all nutes for a little while. I turn off the 400watt hps for 6 hours of the day during the hottest hours (on for other 14 hours thought) and I leave the 3 300 watt cfls on during that time. Seems to be working well. 1108141052.jpg1108141051a.jpg

is the plant going to get confused or have any harm by turning the HPS off for those hours and only having it run HPS and CFl together for 14 hours then CFL alone for 6 hours and then fully off for 4 hours?

i was running a 20/4 and now just dropped the HPS for a few extra hours. please let me know your thoughts. or i can clarify if that is confusing.

thanks all.

i will turn the HPS on fully in about a week when the temps drop and then itll be starting week 4.

Plants may not get confused, but I am. I can't keep track of you application of light because the details are kind of tossed out throughout the thread. For instance, what does this mean?

I added a few cfls for a total of 3 -300w (68w)actual watts

Three 68 watt cfls? Could you please describe all your lighting?

They look very nice like so by the way.

haha ok to clarify...

my light timing is 20/4
run my 400watt HPS 15 hours of the 20 (off 5 hours bc of hottest part of day until next week at beg. of week 4 and itll be cooler)
i run the 3- cfls for the full 20hours on. they say 300watt each but equiv to using 68watt of power (so i assume they are truly putting out 68watt)

so its like this.... schedule on time is 4pm-12pm (next afternoon)
4pm-7am CFL's and HPS on for those HOURS (15 total)
7am-12pm CFL R ON BY THEM SELVES AND HPS IS OFF (5 totals hours) (HOTTEST PART OF DAY FOR MY GROW)

then 12pm-4pm everything is off. even my intake bc it makes it too cool in there. so they just chill during those off hours. no fans no nothing.

did this clear it up at all??

SEE PIC OF CFL

thanks all.

Pretty clear. Your thread intro said you were using:
(1) 150 watt CFL side lighting
(1) 300watt cfl side lighting
but whatever.

Plenty of light. At this point I wouldn't remove the hps when it's almost time to implement it. Just keep it at a proper level (not burning, not stretching. keep an eye out) and adjust. A metal halide bulb would be better if your setup can accommodate it.The cfls as discussed should be 6500k. Is that the case?

ok thanks. i had switched my cfls. it was originally 1-150 and 1-300. then i added one more and made them all 300... i must have posted that elsewhere n not here. my bad. def my mistake.

end of week two

I guess I'll wait another week to start feeding them nutes again, they seem to be found pretty good. Very green n bushy on all except one runt.

Lookin' spanky. Wish mine looked that good. I'm jealous. Mine are a total wreck. Whose Northern seeds are they? I looked but didn't see mentioned.
