Indoor Northern Lights Autofem (Nirvana) - Grow Journal

thanks thud, I guess what you are saying is that it is probably light stress.

I will put the 125w in and see what temps it goes down to - suppose I could have the heaters on full time untill she can handle the higher wattage.

so I put the 125w in and raised the pot a few inches so it is getting blown on directly from the PC fans and set the thermostat to come on at 24c.

checked after an hour and she looks healthier already (well could be psychological :) ) - temps look like they are holding at 22c.

I once lost the whole side of a mature plant where the fan was blowing on it. Desiccated the leaves. A baby like that won't last long with your fans on it.

doh! thanks again thud

I have used these fans on other grows at this age without issue - they are really weak fans. However what you say makes sense, so have moved the pot back down a bit.

hi all, it has been a few days since I last posted, so thought would let you have a look at the little lady.

Please let me know what you think.

I noticed a lot of water falls out the bottom of the air-pots, even tho she is only getting a 1/2 to a liter of water a time to encourage root growth - also noticed some kind of salt deposits in some of the holes.

another set of pictures for today - she is 15 days old.

fed her a full two liters of water (2ml/l root juice and 1ml/l bio heaven)

she has the biggest wingspan of any plant I have grown at this age.. that is a 15 liter pot and is 9 inches wide and she just reaches over the edge.

I also started giving her 2 hours of dark per day; probably wont up this any in the immediate future given the cold conditions; however the heaters seem to be able to manage 2 hours.

17 days old.

had to stop with the 2 hours of dark as the temps were dropping to 15c, so she is back on 24/0 and maintaining 23c without the extraction fan going.

may start grow nutes at the end of this week (when she is about 25 days old), so far I have been light feeding her stimulants (root juice and bio heaven).

when do you think she will be ready for the 250w cfl? she is currently under a 125w cfl

In my opinion, she looks developed enough to put her under the 250w now. I started all my seedlings under my 400w HID and they grew perfectly. That being said, this is my first grow, so take it with a grain of salt.

thanks dreamtitle - your grow looks awesome m8 - hope she puts out a decent crop for ya.

I lowered the 125w cfl so it is closer to the plant - may swap to the 250w sometime this week.

I think I found out what caused the initial stress, and that was the two 60w tube heaters (heat stress). One of the new sets of leaves is growing twisted away from the heaters in perfect symmetry, and the plant was just inches away from them too which was my bad.

Hopefully putting the light closer will mean the heaters coming on less, and I moved her away from them a lot. The plan is to put 120w side lighting (4 * 30w cfl's) in replacement of the heaters once she can handle the light. I am contemplating putting them in now instead of the 250w. Does anyone know if putting side lighting on her now would affect her negatively in any way?

New pics tomorrow, she is looking the healthiest of any plant I have grown, side branches are starting to sprout up now :) fingers crossed I dont do something stupid to her - always something to learn.
