Whats the rule of thumb for Watering? Is there one. my plants Are 20 days old i water Them roughly every 5 days today is the 6th day since last watering. I Am introducing veg nutes Today 1/2 strength. Fish Fert, mollasses, mexican bat poo, superthrive.

Weight test...

train your hand/arm to discern the weight difference between fully watered/still partially moist/dry

Then water them when they are light enough to be considered almost dry.

Good time to introduce veg. nutes....but I might suggest starting with 1/4 strength just to see
how the plant responds...i.e. check leaf tips for any kind of nute burn....then move up if it seems
like she took that shot well.

my 2 cents.

Good luck.

What I have read is the first 2 inches should be fairly dry. If it's even the slightest bit moist, there is no need to water and you should wait one or two days depending on the heat and temperature that the plant is in.

As trapper50cal said this method is one to get accustomed to to avoid over watering, remember even if the top soil is dry the bottom (if in a large pot) will still be wet and can cause root rot.

Get used to the weight of a dry pot, which should be now, and then after you water it see how heavy it is.

Cannabis likes wet/dry cycles, so you shouldn't water until you can poke your finger 1" into the soil and it feels dry. A popular way to test if the plant is dry is to get accustomed to how light or heavy your container feels.

I'm not too experienced, but it's my impression more frequent cycles are better. Like, 2-3 days. If you have to wait 5 days it may indicate your soil doesn't drain well (i.e., not enough perlite). What kind of soil do you use? Maybe using organic nutes makes it ok to have less frequent watering.

Regarding your nutrients, hopefully one of the organic people will answer your question. If your soil doesn't have nutrients in it, waiting 3 weeks to feed is too long.

I'd be careful using SuperThrive. I've read it can cause problems (hermie) when used as a supplement. I use a half-drop (per gal) in my germination soak water and 1/4 tsp/gal when I transplant (photo sensitives. So far I haven't transplanted an auto).

Consider starting a grow journal in this forum with all the details (soil, lighting, temp, humidity, light cycle, ph in and out, tap or filtered water, etc.). Document what you do (feedings, etc.). This will help people help you as your grow continues.

Yes ur correct 1/4 strength. I Waited this long Because im using ffof for my soil and its very hot to start. I Will use a mix in my next grow. As for super thrive i Am using half The recomended dose and only twice in the plants entire life, now and as soon as she flowers.

Observe the plant, it will tell you when its thirsty. As the leaves begin to slowly droop

Watch this time lapse video of a plant grow, see how the plant bounces up and down through out its whole life. de-hydrated, re-hydrated, de-hydrated, re-hydrated and so on.

I never got the whole lift the pot up. It makes sense for a seedling but not for a 3ft+ tree with bud on it. Same as saying I will feed x-amount of litres every 5 days. The plant may want water after 4 days or may not want anymore till the 6th or 7th day.
