Live Stoner Chat Old timer-child of the 60's

I live in Georgia, USA.
Some history:
Back in the 1970's we grew our pot in the woods. We tried to sex them but always ended up with damn seeds. We usually grew 100-200 plants at a time.
Someone got some Afghani seeds-they said it was from a cousin working in Afghanistan for the CIA helping the Afghanis fight the Russians. I don't know if that was true or not.
Anyway we grew the Afghani on an old abandoned dairy farm. Used the rotted manure for fertilizer. Those plants got 10-12 feet high. They smelled like hash when they were growing. I'll never forget those 12 inch buds.
After that I went straight for 30+ years.
Started smoking again for pleasure last year. I had sticker shock when they told me a quarter was $100-$120. But I found out quality beats quantity and I didn't have to smoke a big spliff to get a good buzz anymore.
Now I'm interested in indoor growing.
I've got a 300watt LED grow light, some organic soil, peat pots, and some organic seed starter mix. Ordered my seeds last Saturday from BC Bud since they had a nice ad in High Times. Order processed on Tuesday. Not shipped yet. I said, "Damn". So I ordered from Single Seed today. I'll probably end up having both arrive the same day. Oh well, ce la vie.
It is interesting to read the grower journals on here. Lot's of good advice.
I hope to have some success and give back to the community. Thank you for your time.

Welcome aboard armanidog . Sounds like you have a lot to contribute . These young whipper snappers are pretty good at what they grow here . It's a whole new ball game growing autos but man it's a lot of fun . So strap yourself in and enjoy the ride . :Sharing One:

Wow cool stories man, keep em coming along the way I'm much younger and still respect some of the old southern traditions by growing a few in the woods sometimes. There's something uniquely spiritual about growing in nature in the forest, it couldn't really be explained lol. Glad you're starting out organic, I (and many others) believe it's healthier and makes much better tasting herb. Best wishes and keep us posted with a journal when things get going.

"There's something uniquely spiritual about growing in nature in the forest, it couldn't really be explained lol." It is nice growing in the woods, only thing is the deer thought it was nice as well! We would start with 300 plants and end up with 100-200 plants flowering.
I guess you could sleep out in the woods to keep the deer away but the damn mosquitos, chiggers, and ticks would then eat you.

Yeah, deer are a problem 'round here, they ate a few of mine last year lol. Though now they sell "predator urine" in a spray bottle. I spray that around and brew up a mix of garlic and chilli pepper and spray that around the plants too. Seems to keep the deer and grasshoppers mostly away, and still feels environmentally friendly

I'd hate to be the guy getting the predator urine to sell! : )
I like to hike so I may try to grow some outside in a certain place. I'll look up predator spray and see if I can get some.
I wonder if dog pee would work, I can get plenty of that. : )

Just fyi, the predator urine is available at Lowes / Hope Depot if anyone has that nearby, the brand is "Deer Away" lol. I've heard it available at hunting type supply places too. It's not as stinky to our noses as you would think, but it's like kryptonite to animals lol.

Funny I didn't smoke for years also (must be the woman in our lives?) and now I need it for my RLS (Restless leg syndrome)

I deceided to do hydro. In my first grow and don't regret it.

My funny way back story.
Me and my friend pulled over by the state POPO (1970 ..in the middle of winter in Michigan..1am. Snow 5 feet high.
Car full of stink, and I don't think they even knew what the smell was. We gave them two completely different stories why we were out in the country at 1 am ( mine was ...we were testing the transmission....Ya at 1am..God was I dumb !) and then they tell us that some farmer or someone called (because we looked like suspicious burglars stopped by the side of the road ).
Well, they just let us go, but MAN. Talk about coming down FAST and ruining the Buzz !!! LOL
