Outdoor Oldster Builds a Greenhouse

nice green house!
will you have some lights for short days?
Just a work light, I am not in a legal area and don't want to call attention to it unfortunately.

Nice green house! Air sealing will be as important as insulation if your temps get down to -10f.
Yea, that is why I caulked all the panels, still need to improve the door seal. The insulation should help with heat loss through the aluminum frame.

Looks perfect! I would love to have one. Need a garden first though haha! Will you need to heat it in winter or will the insulation take care of it?
I will have an electric heater in it. Also looking at passive solar options.

Thanks again for all the interest and good wishes

Hi all,

Well it has been cool enough the last few days that I could work in the greenhouse and get things finished. I put reflective insulation on the back and clear on the front and sides. I painted 2, 55 gal. plastic barrels black and filled them with water to act as passive solar collectors. I still need to put some foam weather strip around the door to improve the seal.

Moved some plants in to see how they like it. Started some tomato seeds to see if we can get some decent tomatoes over the winter, also plan to try lettuce and spinach. As soon as my Mephisto test grow is big enough they will be going in and also will be running some Moonstones and some surprises from the swamp.

Happy growing

What a great space to grow in! I would grow outside all year round if I could.

:d5: Shweeeet! That's a nice set-up my friend, and a fine job on the construction,..the plants are going to love it! "Bailers Booya" :coffee2:... Great shelf for orchids and such too,... ***- looks like you've got some fine strains coming in! The more I see of Mephisto, the more I like,... And Swampy has some great personal stash too! ...CCD and/or Josie? Josie is a lovely plant, with lots of nice fat resinous nose-cone buds, with a sort of narrow pine tree build... It'll be a gas to see these again! :goodluck:

Looks real good!
Now you just need the solar powered led's that goes on automatically when it's dark:Sharing One:

Thanks Dazed, had a bigger greenhouse many years ago and have been wanting another one ever since.

Hi Waira, not sure what Swampy is sending, I am sure it will be good. I agree on Mephisto, I have been seeing some awesome grows of their stuff. BTW those are 3 of my problem MOBs on the ground that still have not started to flower. Hoping that the warmth of the greenhouse will help them a long.

:smoke: LOL! he didn't say? I'll see if I can still find pics of CCD and Josie grows,...theoretically, they should still be around (from a banned former member), and Big'un should still have his stuff as well,... *** :slaps: Gahh! Are those straight MoB's? how very odd,... my two last year were quite speedy once in bloom,... I wonder what's hanging them up..? Have you pummeled their proto-gonads with something really P-K rich? :roflcry: (forgot if you're doing full organic...if not, I could send you some Hawaiian Bud 5-50-17,.... Sea Grow Bloom too, 4-24-24) ... certainly, the light hours are low enough now, right? I don't know if they're the type to be N sensitive, causing them to balk at flowering...? ...just tossing ideas out there,.... :dunno:-LOL! No doubt, you've been grinding on this,... maybe ask JM about it, as he had a big hand in MoB development,... meantime, fingers crossed and sending horny-chick bloom :karma Cloud: your way brudda!

I like it!
wish I could have one.
the girls seem to like it as well.

Morning Waira,

No, they are the same MOB cross you just finished. I gave them some 10-48-0 a few days ago, garden is already high in K. When I put them in their current pots my transplant soil pH was low so maybe that slowed them down. Yeah, days are short enough, 2 photos I have growing have been in bloom a few weeks and 3 other of the MOB crosses that did not auto are in bloom. Fortunately space is not an issue for now so I will just let them do their thing.
