Hey fellas havas wondering I have both a mh 1000 watt and a hps 1000 watt...During flowering of my autos would there be any benefit of putting in my mh for like 2 days a week and having my hps in 5 days a week? Or like any benefits of using both styles of light ? Like tighter nugs? More trichs? Better potency? Basicly I have a switchable ballast and thought I should try and use the mh yo increase yeild or quality. ..any info would be great

If you can dial your ballast back it would be beneficial to run the MH with the HPS. Less stretch, tighter internodes, better photosynthesis and better trich production, especially if you can afford to use a 10k spectrum bulb the last two weeks. UVB radiation increases the trich production. The biggest drawback is a little higher leaf to calyx ratio. This is what I see in photos. Autos, I am not too sure about but would assume they would react about the same way. I run my MH at 250W along with 1000W HPS then at the last week bump it up to 600W with a 10k bulb.

Happy growing!

I only got one hood...a on only thing I could do would be to put the 1000 mh in other words rotate the bulbs ....but running the hps what bulbs or spectrum should I add to add to potency yield ect?...and I have a sunblaze t5 that I could mount in the side of the tent and put in any spectrum...would it be worth it?

MH will most certainly increase trich production....I think the more spectrum of light the better for the plant as it will give it more range of light to utilize... Though just for a couple days a week, yea I'd think maybe it would get confused... Who knows, only until you try it ;)
I can say for certain the uv most certainly increases trich production like a mofo, as I'm witnessing first hand under my Cali works SS 400 and the photos I'm growing, the one in the tent under hps has no where near the amount as her clones do under the uv... So maybe throw a few uv bulbs up last two to three weeks (though I did use them this time under the SS the entire flowering time) journal what ya decide to do ;)

You guys have real life grows with these lights so i'llpull my post.

It isn't so much the spectrum of the lighting itself as the spectrum of HM. MH creates UVB because of the gas inside so I don't think the flouro tubes would work as good but you can probably do some research into it and see if they put off UVB. Even without the UVB the added spectrum would help the plant but I don't know if it would be worth it with auto genetics. The added electricity costs may not make up enough quality to justify.

Like yoda said, give it a try and see. One other thing to consider that just come to me is a dual spectrum bulb. Hortilux makes a dual spectrum 1000W with a 600W HPS and 400MH inside the same bulb. It is called Dual Arc, and expensive as all get out. But it is a possibility to get you through with only one hood.
