Lighting Pal's first Photosensitive grow, The Ultimate.

Few pics from this morning, sorry they're not very exciting yet! Come monday that will be a whole week in the buckets so they'll get a fresh res change, I'll probably switch them over to Canna Aqua then too.

She's still the front runner after her shakey start, maybe it made her appreciate life more after coming so close to death :D :peace:

The ones I'm using now are 150mm bro, I've used the 220mm version too but I think I prefer these smaller sizes now, not as long but more chunky - performance is more dependant on the air pump as the diffusers I use are all made by Angel Aqua. I've not heard of/seen the Norres diffuser, how are you finding it? I really want a diffuser than will give super micro bubbles so it looks like gas rather than bubbles but not having any luck here in the UK. The closest thing I found was small wooden air stones (rectangle shape) made for aquariums and protein skimmers. They do put out some really fine bubbles, the only down side is that they're wooden and will rot after a few weeks and I was worried about the rotting wood maybe dropping harmful stuff in the res..decided to play it safe for this run :D :pass:
Thanks for the information pal i appreciate you giving me time for a detailed response.
The norres pro air diffusers are made for septic and sewers tanks so there should be plenty of oxygen bubbles.
Im setting her up today and il take a few pictures of what its like. You should stop by my thread later to have a look and see what you think of it.

Your plants are looking well man, off to a great start.

Girls look content this morning, res very stable at 1.2 EC and PH 5.8. Remember my tap water is 0.5 EC now so when I say 1.2 EC I've only added 0.7 to the res (just to clarify). Will grab a couple pics later, I have a sneaky suspicion we may have more emerging roots as there has been a little jump in growth for both girls, number 2 still leading. :peace:

You're more than welcome mate, that's what the forum is here for :) The more we all have conversations and continue to share knowledge the sooner this place will fill up again with dedicated members of the community.

I had a look over in your thread and all the equipment looks legit mate. Some decent pressure for sure! That's pretty much how the water surface looks when using these angel aqua ceramics too, it's good but I want less disruption at the top of the water if that makes sense? With the water being pushed so rapidly in certain directions I always get roots snapping off from the turbulence..what I'm looking for is something like this in the video:

I imagine it would be so so good for DWC but for the life of me cannot find where to purchase in the UK..if anyone can help with such a request I'd be so grateful.

Got some pictures from this morning. Some people class day 1 as when the seedling breaks ground, others like to class day 1 as the first day roots appear from the net pot - so to be diplomatic I'll go for the middle ground and class day 1 as the day I transplanted them to the buckets, they're now a week old and will have a fresh res set up for tomorrow.
I'm still using frozen bottles/ice packs to stay on top of temps for now, to avoid them bashing around in the res and snapping more roots I now tie some wire (headphones, phone charger) around the top of the bottles or ice packs and put the bucket lid back down. This traps the wires and keeps the frozen whatever in place at the side of the bucket away from the roots, bit of a caveman job but it works the same just a bit slower on the temp decrease, I'll get a pic at some point to illustrate :peace:

Ultimate 1, doing okay again now and has compensated the root loss with a few more emerging from the net pot.

Ultimate 2, still just doing her thing slightly ahead of her sister.

That's all for now :peace:

Hi Pal
Thanks again for sharing man. That diffuser looks kick ass man, real smooth bubbles and like you said not much is disturbed in the water.
Il have a look around and see what i can find over this side but im afraid if you haven't had much luck i more than likely wont either.
Dude i love the rate that your photos are growing its mad how different the seedlings look compared to autos. The colours seem different.

Yeah man I can't think of a more inviting environment for roots. I've found similar products from industrial manufacturers but they are really big, designed for sewage control etc so no use unless you have like a 1000L resovoir at least :D The Boss Hog micro bubble diffusers do a decent job to be fair but again nowhere to purchase in the UK..might have to ebay it one day if I cant find one like in the video..they must be out there!
I know what you mean about the colours - wasn't sure if I was trippin'. They do seem a bit more pale than my autos but I just put that down to giving them very light feeds, my autos always had rocky starts in DWC to be fair..I swear the hardest part of hydro is getting them going! Photos should be more forgiving though so I have high hopes for these two... :pass:

Week 2, Day 1.

So I gave the girls a fresh res this morning (didn't have time to let it bubble, naughty Pal). As I've been thinking the girls look slightly pale I decided to flip them over to Canna Aqua instead of Canna Start. Into the res went:
15L Plain Water
40ml Plant Magic Root Stim (first time I've used this in hydro, seems okay)
9ml Canna Mono Magnesium
9ml Canna Mono Calcium - these Mono nutes are super concentrated and will make your EC shoot up.
I then upped the EC to 1.2 total with Canna Aqua A+B.
I left for work and on returning home both buckets were at 1.4EC and Ultimate 2 has a touch of burn. I forgot to compensate with less Aqua as it is more concentrated that Start, I took out 6L from each res and replaced with plain water to drop the EC back to 1.0, PH 5.8.
Will get a few pics up tomorrow afternoon but needed to write this down for my records :peace:
