Trying to figure which one of my girls I want to keep in the cup for the grow off.

There's this one with purple showing already ..




And then there is this girl that wants to throw branches everywhere. ...

Update. Well I pulled the second plant the other day as I think this one is female so there is only one in there now. I think a few weeks ago I might have stunted her one day before I had the valve in place they got flooded all day and took a few days to come around but she is growing out quite a lot. If I can get her to go up as much as out this might be a nice little plant.

Since this is my first hydro attempt and I am just getting this dialed in I hope to learn enough for the next contest to do something more imressive.

Im not trying to cause drama, though does Scott817' style fly by the comp rules?

Would a DWC with a party cup of media make the grade too? Because even though he is drip feeding, I promise that with all the holes in the lid of the res, that the lady will be dipping her toes in the res....

I would imagine scotts ok with that set up as no one else has raised the issue, I also doubt he's trying to bend the rules to win,it's just a bit of fun and I think he's rigged a nice little hydro set up..it's down to him to be honest if his roots can and do dip the res,and I'm sure he would mate

Its all good, wasnt taking shots.... I actually admire his ingenuity. I stumbled upon his set-up looking at hydro for AF, because soil grows are all but alien to me, was just, I dont know.... just know that thing isnt confined to the party cup as alot of others are...

Sort of wish I never posted it, nor this to be honest. Im not calling him shady or the likes, more impressed, his successes have actually made me think I can tweak my style rather than switching totally over.

Cannot stress enough, my apologies for raising it, more so my gratitude for proving the system.

Edit: Scott, tape up any holes in the lid that arent being used for drainage, even better, alluminium tape up the whole lid and tub if you can apart from the necessary drainage holes. You really want to achieve a totally dark res. Also I am more than happy if a mod would remove this and my previous post. I dont think I could have conveyed myself any worse if I tried.

There are no holes in the bottom of the can. The roots all stay in the can. What you would think of being the resivour is actual the bottom 1/3 of the can. The coffe can just holds the water.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. If there were holes in the bottom and the roots could grow down then yes that would definately be cheating so I understand your thought process.
