hi,
i am planning my first grow and need some help from you guys.

i found this set and wanted to ask if it´s okay or not

http://www.head-shop.de/tree/709/Da...rk-Room-II-60-Growschrank-250-Watt-Set..xhtml

it is a german page but i think it´s pretty self explanatory.

i am planning to grow: think different autos from dutch passion

Is the light okay or do i need some extra "blue lights" for the vegetation? or a dual spectrum bulb?

and another question would be which soil and nutrients to use. i got access to the whole plagron sortiment http://www.plagron.com/nl-nl/1/46/producten.aspx

but i dont know if i should use the "batmix" "royal mix" or "allmix" or if i need to buy 2 of them.

and my last question would be, if i can start my grow in jiffys and then place them into the final pot size when they are ready?

so thank you for potential answers

(sorry for my english but i am not a native)

thanks anyways

Welcome to AFN.A 250 watt light is pretty small but if thats all you have it will work . A dual spec would be better and this would cover you through tour entire grow.I would try and get a bigger light or add some cfls . Plagron mix looks good and I would use the mix with out nutes, this gives you better control of your own fertilizer.Starting them in jiffy pots is ok for a couple weeks then into a pot at least 3 gal.Check out the new growers forum and other grow forums for more info.If you need help please ask and we'll be glad to help.Good growing to you.:smokebuds:

thanks for the answer.

so you think i should put a 400w light into a dr2 60?
i thought 400w would be too much because its just 60x60cm

should i buy the plagron batmix allmix or royalmix?

i checked out quite a lot of grow diaries, thats why i want to start growing :)

so just to sum it up:

i germinate the seeds with paper towels, put them in jiffys and wait till little plants appear
then i put them into the box? or do i put them in there under the light when they are placed in the jiffys?

and then after about 7 days i take the jiffys, and pot them up in my final pot size.

is it right like that?

and if i buy a dual spectrum bulb i can let it burn 18/6 all the grow?

and another question would be, which nutrients do you recommend? just for flowering or even for veg ?

thank you so much for answering

btw. i will try to use "serpents guide to growing autos in soil"

Ok I figured out the centimeters to feet and realize that is quite small and that 250 watt light is about all you can use and still manage the heat.As far as soil I don't know the ingrediance of each and can't really say what to pick as long as it has no fert added they all should work.First you should soak the seeds in distilled water for 24hrs before they go in the damp paper towls.Keep the towls in a warm spot as this will help germination. When they get a little tap root about one quarter inch long poke a small hole in the presoked jiffy deep enough just to cover the seed head with the root facing down. You can also put the germed seed directly in the final pot as long as it doesn't have any strong nutes in it.I cover that with some plastic wrap until the seed pops and then remove it.Yes put lights on when you put them in the jiffys but not to close to burn them. They should break soil in about two to three days. You can use the dual light for the entire grow.As far as nutrients check out the fert section in our grow forums for additional info. What is the serpents guide ?

oh sorry, i didnt think about the centimeters and inch =)

thanks for the answer

just one last thing. i just checked the fert section but i am not 100% sure what to buy.
do i need nutrients for the veg phase and for the flowering phase + extra root ferts or is there just an all in one mix which you can recommend? (sorry for the questions but i want to do everything right)

and btw. serpents guide is from another board... i actually mistaked that.

Hello growdaherbs. Glad to see you getting started. If I am not mistaken I have heard good things about the Plagron All Mix. So you should be good to go with that. Or maybe the light.mix if that is available to you. I like Promix as well as many others here but I dont know it is available to you.

Otherwise Namvet has given great advice I say. Good luck bro I will try and keep up.

thanks a lot squid. i can´t wait to get the grow started =)

i got access to the whole plagron sortiment. so you would recommend the promix?
and for the nutrients... if i use the promix what nutrients should i buy and when should i start feeding my plants with it?

i have to say thanks again, this is a really great board and community. i registered and posted some things in a german board but they are just not as friendly as you guys are =) i was getting a lot of hate at the german board because i want to start with autoflowering plants

edit: i have to correct myself ... i got access to "all-mix" "bat-mix" "light-mix" and "royal-mix" http://www.pflanzkraft.de/produkte/erden-und-substrate/erde.html
and i am really not sure what to buy =)

Hey dude. I can'tvseembto find the exact ingredients of each mix but I know I have heard good things about the All and Light mix. To be on the safe side I say go with the Light Mix since you're doing Autos. They don't grow well with ferts in the beginning. Just clean ph'd water.

As far as nutes I imagine more or less everything is available on rhe internet. I use General Organics Bio line. Some use more expensive Advanced Nutrients. Have to research.

I've heard bad things about jiffy for starting seeds. You might want to look at mandalas germination guide.

Guten Tag Herr growdaherbs...the basic set looks good...a few pieces may need to be purchased seperately: a good ph tester is very important...a soil that contains no fertilizers can be used to insure successful growth (nutrients can be scheduled in later,as required by the plant), pot size should be consistent with plant needs....Think Different can grow very large...I would use at least 10 liter pots or larger,to accomodate the root mass....also a small circulating fan will help move the air around in the growing room..the fan also helps strengthen the plant ....don.t worry too much about which fertilizer to get right now....there are many choices available...most autos do not need anything but ph adjusted water for the first 2 weeks or more....
much more reliable information is available in the new growers forum...especially in the "sticky" or uppermost threads that have a permanent placement for reference purposes.
good luck and we shall see you over in the new growers forum....
