Hi guys:thumbs:,i will soon be getting 4x4 tent with 600w hps with mag bal, will the 4" inline fan supplied be enough to keep the temp down?i could upgrade to 5" inline fan and dimmable diggi bal,but i dont want to do so if its not need'd,i will also have desk top fan in tent.also do you think i need an intake fan?any help with these issues wud be great guy's im a noob and tryn to get it right from the start and i welcome all input from every1 from noob to master:peace:

You won't need an iintake fan if you leave a window open opposite the exhaust fan to let fresh air in.

Get a cool tube and have fresh air intake as namvet recommends. If you can, exhaust to the outside too. Those three things combined will keep your temps relatively low. In the summer when it's in excess of 80 degrees F outside I have to use an A/C (I have a 2x3 space with a 600W HPS).

Active intake fans aren't all that useful, although they serve their purpose they're only needed if your intake size is less than your exhaust size and you need to get more air in the cab faster. If the size if your intake is greater than or equal to that of your exhaust you shouldn't need any assistance from a fan.

@namvet thanks for the input man, should i leave 1 of the tent acess holes open on the oppisit side to the exaust fan?:toke:

@whatsgoodie2.Thanks man great info:clap: so you dont think its gona be much benifit getn the upgrade?

a cool tube mk1 foot print will struggle to light your area

as for fan a 4" is fine if its a decent one

@MG: No sir, I do not think your op warrants the upgrade.. save the money or spend it elsewhere in the op that'd be more benefit - it doesn't necessarily have to be a cooltube, any sealed air cooled hood will work, the cool-tube is just something I've run for a long time..

@don: I googled "cool tube mk1" and the only thing I found was another post by you on here, what're MK1 and MK2 if you don't mind me asking.. The cool-tube I used was from HTG supply and it covers my 2x3 area very well and I had it in a 2x4 tent and it covered that just as good, but 8 sq ft and 16sq ft are two different monsters, so please elaborate so I know what I'm getting into if I were to put my HPS in a 4x4 tent. (Might be doing this soon when I replace with LED, haven't decided if I'm phasing out the HPS or not).. If I need to invest to get proper reflection, I may just add another LED.

a mk1 in my eyes notice how the shade directs the all the light down to a narrow point

this should have a wider spread

i have found in my own experience that glass lowers yield/spectrum so only use it as a last resort

i cant remember posting about it b4

Yeah a "mk1" is what kind of tube I have then, BUT - I manipulated the reflectors to look more like the second one. Yes, it's proven glass can decreased yields but it's a minimal impact and often the trade off is worth it if for the efficiency in cooling. If your temps are right your bud will take a bigger hit than your light penetrating glass, no?

I want the bottom reflector, but $220USD+ is ridiculous for that when I can start thinking about LED at that point.

EDIT: @MG: not trying to derail your thread here brother, I'm trying to get more information just so I can be sure I answered your question 100% correctly and so I have knowledge to make other recommendations in the future, if you'd like I can remove mine and don's posts from the thread if you feel they're out of place, please send me a PM.

i agree totally if temps are above 31c but if temps can be reached by a better extractor/intake id go that root first before cutting 10% of my light

theres air cooled shades far cheaper than that i just posted those as they included the tube

Thanks guys great info:clap: just the sorta info i was lukn for:peace:
@WhatsGoodie2 all good man i was hoping somthing like that would kick off:group:
