Some use the Photone App on their phone. I use this: Amazon.com : PHOTOBIO LGBQM2 Advanced Quantum PAR Meter (Micromols) : Patio, Lawn & Garden

It's not as accurate as Apogee meters (which are more expensive) but good enough for general growing purposes

I did a quick “google” on SF light and the info u may want is available. Light meter is “nice”, but not necessary. Read up on VPD, DLI, and ur lights par map.
