Grow Mediums Popping my grow cherry

Yeah I'm blessed with good water supply! Sounds good, keep things to a minimal, when you gain more experience you can start experimenting with some other additives if you want. If you haven't already check out the sticky threads here in the Hydro forum.

Just a quick update, all my seeds popped. Wow, now i have an extra without to a place to put it lol. My lights were to be delivered today but I couldn't make it home in time from work to sign for the packages, amazon was kind enough to group the majority of my stuff together. Tomorrow I have off and after running down and picking the up the packages from the post myself (otherwise they won't be delivered til like 5pm)ill be heading to the hardware store for some 1x1s to frame up the partition and plumb my reverse osmosis. Tomorrow evening ill post an update and I feel it may be picture heavy.

Sounds like a plan.. Looking forward to the pic updates.

Ok, another update. My cfl bulb shattered when I went to adjust the reflector, which is probably for the best cuz now I have my lights. I'm not too happy with how my lights showed up, reflectors were bent all to shit and I spent a good deal of time working the bends out, and they only sent me one set of bulbs when I should have had two sets of hps and mh. Uh, besides that all and all I think everything went well, got the partition up, plastic hung and lights up. I decided it was time to pull that dome off the seedlings and get some wind on them to build up the stems cuz there lookin a little leggy. They still need a few more days I think til they are ready for the buckets, which is fine cuz I'm still waiting on my calmag which should be here tomorrow. Everything went up really quick, the Only exception was bending the reflectors to there original shape and trying to figure out how to eliminate the vibration from my air pump so I dont hear it reverberate through the hardwood floors and at the same time keeping it cool without resorting to drastic measures, which I'm fully really to do, but I don't think that will be necessary. So I grabbed a length of bungy cord and suspended th pump off the floor right in the path of the ac ir vent so cold air blows across it. I have one l mh light on and above the seedlings, a fan gently blowing across them. Of course I'm open to critique, I don't know what the hell I'm doing, lol.

Everything is coming together nicely man. Sooner the better to get those seedlings in their final homes. Lol, I had to do the same exact thing with my air pump.

24 hrs now since I started up the one meal halide light, my infared thermometer says the hottest part of my one ballast is only running 101F, only slightly warm to the touch. Tomorrow inhave to run down an get another mh bulb since my Internet order customer complaint has gone unheard so far and I don't have the time to wait around on them. I have a 2 seedlings I'd like someone to take a look and tell me what they think could be wrong. One won't stand up on its own, another seems to only be halfway pushing itself out of the rockwool, I know I'm not explaining it well, so I'll post pics in about an hour when I'm finished with this dreaded family function.

looking good! if you have a dollar store around you you can buy the windshield visors and 'curtain' them around your lights

They are pretty stretched from lack of light, now that you got them under the MH they should strengthen up. They should have already been planted in their final homes. The one that's laying over, might be damping off not sure thou never experienced it. Can't see the other that well, look and see if there's a thin clear skin like layer holding it to the stem.

your light is too high IMO as they're stretching too much and too soon.. when they get bigger you may want to turn your lights the other way (90 deg.) looks good although again IMO the lights look good for two, maybe 3 med size plants.... if your not going to add more lights IMO stick to 3 plants for a higher yield no point in wasting your time growing small plants it's too much work for small yields (1-1.5 oz dry) keep everything right and you should be able to grow some monsters again IMO...'budluck' to ya mate :wiz:
