New Grower Pot type/size opinions...experienced growers?

Lol I just hope to get some summer here in England, haven't ever used anything other than standard pots.

I used 2 gal and 5 gal air pots this last grow. There a lot more watering, dry so fast. And if you get gnats you can't use sand. But I was going through my nutes faster also. I'm thinking going back to 5 gal buckets next time

well Im a bit of a strange bird. But Im actually doing kind of side by sides but alas with diff. strains.Diff. brands of fabric pots.I still believe that a fabric pot say 2.5 gallons width 10" or so with a height of around 16-20 inches.or there abouts.time will tell man.Ive almost bought oldhippiechicks styled pots to try but settled for a standard run.Im a firm believer in airflow to the roots n such and heat can build a lot either indoors or out.awww man.LMFAO! Im sitting here all baked just having a yap bout pots n such and just now relized Im jackin this dudes thread all up.My bad brother.LOL!:peace:

Ok, now ya peaked my interest.how can you not use sterile playsand as an adequate control method for gnats? An airpot I can see,but a smart pot as long as the edges are maybe filled a little heavy with sand and that didnt work?curious.did you have holes in the sm pots?

I said I'm using airpots. I have sand but the gnats go in and out the holes. I ending up wrapping them in plastic and put sand on top. Also takes longer to water. If u don't go slow it will drain right out the top wholes which makes them messier also. I would like to try the fabric pots some time because I love the idea of more oxygen and the pruning.

oh damn well thats what I get for being medicated and tired.LOL!I missed you were using airpots.i was with the whole sm pots thing.LOL! My bad dude.ya ive heard that very issue elsewhere as well.I'll prolly never use them(Airpots)myself.

:smokebuds:

i think the perfect sm/pot would be 2 3gal stacked one on the other...that would give a depth of 20-22", excellent for the deep tape root that autos are known for...:toke:

also i submerge my pots rather than pouring in to them, just easier for me and my soil doesn't move...after the 1st couple you can get it to an exact amount of h2o...:joint:

ya that was an old nursery trick back in the day to submerge your pot in a feeding solution and/or just to get all of it wet thru n thru.esp. after time cuz you can get those unwanted dry pocket.LOL!Gawd the work in doing 100 little 0.5 and 1 gallon pots all day.Ya Smashed Im on that same page too.I wonder if I could fuse two together well enough to maintain the constant of form and function.hmmmm now thats a frigin thought!!Damnit man,now Im gonna go prolly do that.LOL!Ya just made more work for me now.LMFAO!ya bastage! :firedevil:

Three step gnat solution. Buy mosquito dunks, place in distilled or dechlorinated water over night, water plants with said water. No more Gnats, kills all the babies in the soil and breaks the breeding cycle.

see thats where Im confuzzled since Ive heard of two seperate times that the gnats were not resolved after using a dunk drench.I thought maybe soaking the whole pot in said distalation of fixins.but not sure if that would be a right step since Ive never even held an airpot in me hand.LOL
