Extraction Question regarding coconut oil+cannabis

It's very difficult to infuse cannabis into oil, and most recipes are only 30-50% efficient, according to
https://www.leafly.com/news/science...abis-edibles-why-its-nearly-impossible-to-cal
and
https://hightimes.com/edibles/ultimate-cannabutter-experiment-results/
This cannabutter contest was won by a recipe that was only 50% efficient in extracting thc.

Oil isn't a very good at extracting medicine from herb, typically leaving half behind.
190 proof alcohol is excellent, but much more trouble, because some/all of it must be removed after straining.
If ground, decarbed herb is mixed with a small amount of oil, and put into caps, the body won't digest it very well, and much of the medicine will go unused.
Decarboxylation is essential, and immediately after decarb, the herb is as potent as it will ever be, but the body must be able to use that potency.

I have experimented with oils, tinctures, and edibles with dozens of recipes.
Two of the best two things to do are actually pretty easy.
In both of these an initial decarb is required, and 240 F for 40 minutes is optimal. Then grind the herb to fine powder.

(1) Bake cookies (or anything else) with decarbed herb powder mixed into the recipe oil, while trying to avoid additional degrading heat/time.
Or just mix it into nut butter or nutella, spread onto crackers, and eat. Each gram herb used will supply about 150 mg thc.

(2) For canna-oil caps, the BrassNwood method from Grass City forums is excellent.
I use a simplified version of it with whole herb instead of hash:
After producing decarbed herb powder, do this for each gram herb used:
a - Mix with 11 mL coconut oil (10.1 grams)
b - Add a pinch of Lecithin (powder or liquid), about 1/4 tsp.
c - Heat the mixture @ 220 F for 20 minutes.
d - Freeze
e - Heat again @ 220 F for 20 minutes
f - Put into 15 size 00 capsules. Gummy syringes and CapMQuick devices can help. Each cap will contain one Colorado dose of about 10 mg thc, assuming good 15% herb.
These can be made stronger or weaker by adjusting the amount of herb used.
The above ritual is an attempt to break down the herb matter so it can be better digested.
Some people can't handle whole herb.

It's unwise to risk significant amounts of herb on questionable internet recipes, so always try a greatly reduced version of any recipe before adopting it.
The two recipes above can be done with as little as 1/2 gram herb each.

@Simplicio if alcohol extraction is best... have you maybe some recipe for it, like this one above?

The best solvent, considering safety and effectiveness, is everclear 190 proof (grain alcohol). Not isopro!pyl or butane.
1. Decarb 1 oz herb @ 240 F for 40 min using a verifying thermometer. I use Ardent Lift/Nova for this.
2. Grind to fine powder in a coffee grinder. Dabbers might prefer just breaking up the buds.
3. Soak in 2 cups 190 proof alcohol for a few hours, days, or weeks, with frequent agitation. Dabbers might prefer quick washes of a few minutes with everything freezer cold. Medicinal users (includes me) prefer long soaks that pick up waxes, chlorophyll, and unknown medicines. I like a magnetic stirrer hot plate and beaker for this. Magical Butter Machine works well.
4. Strain out the plant matter. Most of the straining can be eliminated by just letting the debris settle out. I like tall, thin graduated cylinders for this. After settling, the clear liquid can be put thru coffee filters.
5. At least one more soaking of the remaining sludge should be done, using less alcohol than before. I also do a third soak/strain, using still less alcohol.
6. Evaporate or boil off as much alcohol as desired. I like to keep 30 mL to fill a 1 oz tincture bottle when making alcohol tincture. When making oil tincture, boil off all the alcohol, and add enough oil to fill a 1 oz tincture bottle. I use a Green Oil Machine clone from walmart online to reclaim most of the alcohol.

This will be a very strong tincture, assuming good 15% herb:
Total thc = (0.15)*(28,000 mg) = 4200 mg
[HASHTAG]#Drops[/HASHTAG] in a 1 oz tincture bottle ~ 1000
Potency ~ (4200 mg)/(1000 drops) ~ 4 mg/drop
Oil tincture can be put into caps.
Any tincture can be added to anything, or be taken sublingually (alcohol burns BADLY).

The recipe can be scaled down by any factor.

Thank you very much for this!! Love the numbers at the bottom!! :d5:
Trim is around 3-5% THC, right?

However, there's little "fog" at point 3. I know green dragon tincture on this site says to freeze everything and only wash couple of minutes. Then evaporate alcohol in 20-30 minutes.
Maybe you did some test on different lenght of wash times? Is there a difference at "high effect"?

Many people want to avoid waxes and chlorophyll that long soaks will pick up. There are at least 2 things that can be done to avoid those things: fast and cold.
If using trim, there is more reason to prefer the quick, cold washes, because of more chlorophyll/waxes, and less cannabinoids.
I recently made some undecarbed herb green dragon using trim, and soaked only a few minutes at room temp. I did pick up more green than desired.

Long soaks will be a bit more potent, because they contain everything fast washes do, plus more.

if coconut all is so bad at extracting the thc from buds, then extract the thc from the buds using a different method ?
like say some dry sift
IMG_5074.JPG

then decarb the dry sift to avoid the chrorophyll ?
IMG_5080.JPG

the thc glands do contain some waxes, dry sift will have a tiny bit of plant matter in it.or is the aim to extract more than just the thc ?
