New Grower Questions, questions, questions...

I know it sounds silly but I must ask, what exactly is EC? I've been seeing this a lot, as well as EC readers. Secondly, thanks for the sched. I've bookmarked it for use on my future grow, I'll be sure to list my medium and nutes, etc.

Another question...on your sched it says up until week 2 to feed water, is that ph'ed water or just water straight from the tap? Sorry about all the questions, I guess it's better to ask than to be clueless lol.

Ohh ohh, and also. Pro mix? I had planned to use fullduplex's guide to soil, but I'm interested in some more info with pro mix?

Hi Georgia - I took this EC info from the google box but think it explains it pretty clearly

EC stands for Electrical Conductivity, or the ability of a solution to conduct electricity. Electricity moves efficiently through water with high levels of salt present (high EC), and less efficiently with low levels (low EC).

EC indicates how much dissolved
salt is in a given sample. That is why EC is also referred to as TDS (Total Dissolved Salts). All nutrients are salts, so EC is the same as measuring total nutrients in a solution.

- I feed PH'd water for 2 weeks.
- Unfortunately I don't know much about promix other than it's a soiless medum. Maybe someone else will be able to help out with this ^_^

Hope this helped.

Blue ^_^

Ah, I see. I'll definitely be looking into pro mix further, as well as an ec meter. So following up, what you were saying last page, Tang, is that I'll need to make sure my ec is .04, and ppm is another way of saying PH right?

If you use promix or any other soiless mix along with AN PH PERFECT or any all organic nutes, you don't have to worry about PH, PPM, or EC.PPM and EC READINGS ARE FOR HYDROPNICS.

EC and PPM (part per million) are ways of measuring the strength of the feed,I find a my EC truncheon very important to fine tune my plants diet but don't worry about that until u have a few grows under your belt. The reason I mentioned the EC of my tap water is because PH perfect won't work if its to high.

Great info guys. Thanks a lot. I've sat down and budgeted everything. Now I've just got to buy the stuff. I really appreciate the help guys, i feel if I were to bring all these questions (4 pages worth haha) to any other forum I'd be a pest to the community. I really appreciate it all. Off to work, gotta make that money for supplies lol. You guys have a great day.

Oh, and one more thing. I've been reading about scrog (i think it's called) and I've seen a lot of people talking about this. Does anyone have any more info on this technique or stress techniques? I have heard good and bad about how certain plants react.
