I've made some changes to my set up for my current grow. I could hear the extraction fan for my tent in the living room, which made my kind of nervous about guests. I have now moved the fan into the attic and placed it in a plastic container stuffed with acoustic foam. I also upgraded from 4" to 5" acoustic ducting and the difference is unreal...almost silent!!

Now my oscillating desk fan is the source of most of the "humming" coming from my grow room. Has anybody used a fan that seems to be noticeably quieter compared to others?

I have the same problem. Got a little clip on fan by ram and even on low its far too loud.

There are box fans available from hydro stores that might be better. Google BLT box fan. I tried to upload a link but it didn't work

Hang it from a bungee cord. Eliminates most of the resonance...most fans hum or make some noise even the so called silent ones .

Only fan I've seen which is virtually silent on low speed is the new Dyson fan but it's very expensive

Personally just stick to small clip on fans which last 6 months and are cheap..
