Live Stoner Chat Rhino filter problem

I've got the TD Silent 125 datasheet with graphs, now I need to know the exact resistance of my Rhino filter to make sence of current airflow lol. They don't have it specified anywhere (

I am afraid that it will not help much. The fan is simply not powerfull enough for carbon filter and Groff has already shown the solution.

Well, all you say is true but look at http://www.rhinofilter.com/pro.html and what fans they offer for each filter.
For the filter that I've got (125 x 300, 500 m3/hr) they propose one of 125mm fans that can only do 220-420 m3/hr depending on the model.
This contradicts your theory. Can you explain that?

Can you copy and paste where it shows that? Been looking all over the site and can't find it :stoneslap:

What I found was this:

125 x 300 500 m3/hr 5" Al/L1 fan

The only thing I can think of with that 5" A1/L1 is that maybe the 5" is referring to the port diameter on the filter?

In fact, check this out dude:

Filter Size Air Volume Fan Type
100 x 300 350 m3/hr 4" A1/L1 fan
125 x 300 500 m3/hr 5" Al/L1 fan
150 x 300 600m3/hr 6" A1 fan
150 x 600 900m3/hr 6" L1 fan
200 x 400 800m3/hr 8" A1 fan
200 x 600 1125m3/hr 8" L1 fan
250 x 600 1420m3/hr 10" A1/L1 fan
250 x 1000 1900m3/hr 10" A1/L1 fan
315 x 600 2440m3/hr 12" A1 / L1 fan
315 x 1000 3250m3/hr 12" L1 fan

You see the differences in ratings on the last two filters in this list? That's almost 800 m3/hr difference between the two filters, yet they are both listed for 12 inch fans. I'm pretty sure they are talking about the size of the duct on the filter to size to a fan, not the size of the fan itself. Or maybe it's just really badly worded. Why not just shoot Rhino an e-mail and ask them? Then it's straight from the horses mouth.

But to reiterate all the comments; you're going to need to beef up your fan if you want to use that filter. You can either try to find a 5" fan that matches the rating; or looking for a nice 6" or 8" fan, grab a reducer, get yourself a fan controller (under $20,) and then you can dial it down or speed it up as needed.
