Hi ya ok as some of you might already know from introduction page Im new to auto flowing plants. Ive got 5 big Buddha blue cheese automatic seeds growing at min there on week 7 In a 4ft by 7ft room and full height ceiling I have a modded Wilma 4 system which is fully drainable via bottom drain as Ive got the system raised off the floor on a DIY stand I built. The Wilma 4 has a 600w light powered by the Lumatek 600 Watt Dimmable Digital Ballast in Super Lumens mode and the soil has a 400w light above it. Im also using a 60lt halia pond pump which puts in plenty of oxygen which the roots love and also I upgraded water pump to the mc1000 biggest they do with an inline filter and an 8 dripper system so each pot gets 2 drip stakes each Im using the blue sticks for the flooding drippers and im using two dripper stakes per pot to get more oxygen into top of roots it seemed to help improve yield with my old uk exodus cheese grow so I stuck with same system but without the scrog shelf this time. Ive also drilled loads of holes in bottom of the top tray in Wilma system were pots sit on so roots can go straight down into rez I managed to stop the clay pebbles falling through pots and into water by using 2 layers of nft root spreader mat in bottom of pots it did a perfect job plus since using root mat I noticed u get a lot more roots coming out pots and in to the main res. I will get some photos up of the mods to Wilma 4 when this grow finishes. Last time I used this system I had a scrog net above the plants and pulled 21 oz. from one 600w hps grow lux bulb in a 100cm by 140cm room which was big plants but these autos are looking miles bigger. Anyway back to the grow the 5th plant is in canna professional + soil in a 35ltre plaster bucket and its on same strength as the ones in Wilma only difference its fed every 3rd day and watered the other two days they was all started on same day but Id say soils a week ahead now because it flowered just over a week earlier than the ones in Wilma which I think was down to modded Wilma roots needed to hit bottom of main rez before it started flowing. The soil one is drinking about 2ltres a day and plants in Wilma drinking 30ltres between the 4 of them every 2 days. up to yesterday they was on vitalink max bloom equal parts a + b @1ml a litre and vitalink buddy @ 1ml a litre ec was 0.8 with a starting ec of 0 its been on that for the last 3 weeks with stable ec just ph. was forever dropping to below 5.0 so to combat that I had to stop using ph. down and just leave it at 6.3 after adding nutrients and it stayed pretty stable till it got down to last 5 to 10 litres in res which is when Id usually do a full res change anyway. I started off in veg at 20/4 light cycle then because they seemed to be getting to tall I changed the time down to 18 hrs. thinking it might stop them stretching because no matter where reflector was buds just carried on past reflector so in the end I had to put the 600w reflector directly to the ceiling of grow room so they wasnt touching bulb anyway I ended up with monsters from what it said on seed bank site and from reviews they was only meant to be small 1 ft. plants lol thats why it took me almost a year to try them out because I didnt think it be worth the extra cost in light hrs. but all I can say is Im glad I gave them a shot now the smells are out of this world up to now Ive had train wreck type smell bit of lemon and orangey smell but no blueberry or cheese smell yet but from all the smells up to now Im really looking forward to tasting them at the end.
Well yesterday I went to my local hydro shop to buy some top shooter or ATAMI Bloombastic but after a long chat with one of the lads in there he told me about some new nutrients they was literally just putting on shelf as I got there which was joint created by growell and a few chemistry professors at Sheffield university were there tested loads of flowing boosters and additives and come up with their own new boost collection which is called SHOGUN fertilisers. As Im already in 7th week he said stop using vitalink buddy and just use vitalink bloom a+b and the shogun sumo boost, and the shogun pk warrior 9/18 they come in 250ml, 1ltre and 5litre bottles he told me to just try a small bottle to see what you think if you like how they work get the big bottles next time so I fought why not give it a go anyway as advised I put shogun warrior @0.5ml per litre and shogun sumo boost @ 1ml a litre then top up with your vitalink bloom a+b till u get to required ec so I added 2ml of each giving me ec of 1.0 next day my ec had dropped to 0.8 and ph. was 5.8 and plants almost drank res dry so they drank twice as much water on new feed and buds have swelled up on the Wilma and the soil as doubled in size and gone solid usually it would take a week and even then they wouldnt get this hard using vitalink buddy and top shooter so I decided to go back to the shop and get the big bottles as it works out a lot cheaper buying 1 litre than 4 bottles of 250ml.
I noticed the blue cheese in soil didnt have any thc over the leafs day before i used new feeds but two days on shogun and the buds are now more frosty than Ive ever had with any of my old photo plants in the past so it has to be the shogun working its magic. Shop told me it was going to blow my mind how they respond to it but i just didnt realise how much better they would be anyway now for some photos first up the soil then it be on to the jungle lol reminds me of a BBC British TV program called My Family with Nick and his Christmas tree business in his parents front living room lol there that tall I need a ladder to see plants at back of room lol. Anyway if anyone has any questions or comments please type away Ill be more than happy to reply.
