Anyone have any experience with these? Thinking of getting away from the leds I use and going with cobs and would this be a good light for a 2x2x48 tent?

100%^^ from the research ive done when making my own light i would guess that 2 COB's running at 400W would be running at such a high temp and poor efficiency your probably better off just using a HID light...

Im running 4 cree cobs, low temps, highly efficient. where did u find 200w cobs?
I usually just tag @BigSm0. the roleardo grows nice plants. if i hadn't gone a different route i would have a couple of those.

well its 2 cobs in the photo at 400W so I assume they are running at 200W each which seems mental...most COB builds ive seen are running at around 1400mA and end up at like 50W a COB...obviously they can be driven harder but you dont get the effiencies from them...

The calculator ive got shows CREE 3590's even at 72V at 1.7A running at 37.38% efficiency...which to be defeats the point of having the COB's to me...if its gonna produce as much waste heat as a HID then just use one...a 250W HPS gives out 25-33k lumens which matches the 33k Lumens 2 3590 72V running at 1.7A would give out...obviously the COB's life is probably better than a HID light but for the cost vs payback i would probably go with the HID...

obviously i could be completely wrong but just seems counter productive in terms of LED etc...but i dont know what COB's its running i just dont see for the price it using very efficient top end COB's etc...

did a quick look and it says actual consumption is 220W so its running a lot less than i first thought...but its still even at 1.4A with good cobs your only seeing 40% effiency...

My cobs do not heat up the tent and i have 2 that are passively cooled. the question asked was us the light shown any good to replace their current led light. so i will guess they dont even have an hid to go back to. have you ever used leds?
