Hi
I've always used OF FFOF, this last trip to the hydro store I said let me try roots as ive heard good things about them... Well, never have I had a gnat problem, until now that is... Once I took the bag in the house I noticed them on one of my girls.. I'm pissed at the hydro store as I thought I saw a couple flying around but wasn't sure (near the root bags).... I am ordering gnatrol tonight, also am hanging sticky traps... But any kind of pest like that sorta freaks me out.... Any suggestions for control? Any way to prevent from happening again when buying new soil? Are they harmful to the crop or plants or just a nuisance? Damn do I find them gross! Please help!

Smashed! Thanks just what I was looking for though only am running 3 cabs with maybe 12plants max (verying degrees of maturity), is that like over kill the 5,000 amount? Wonder how long the powder can be stored for ? Going to order some ASAP as I can't stand any infestation
Thanks
Yoda

Damn, sucks to hear...I recommend Roots soil often...can happen regardless of brand though...

Mosquito dunks work well...that and sticky traps should do the trick...mulching with perlite, hydroton or something inhospitable to them top few inches of container helps a lot too...

Yep me too, sand and dunks and strips no worries.

JM and Kindred Spirit lead me on to a product called Mosquito Dunks - they are a type of BT , containing BTI - You can break them up ad amend the soil before growing OR you can let one soak in water, and water it into the soil. The Gnat larvae will feed like normal but ingest the BTI and die. Check them out for sure. And by the way, I am using Roots Organics potting soil (coco based w/ perlite) and It had them as well. Quite a few.

Props to JM and Kindred by the way....

hope this helps my man - my next grow I am amending dunk (crumbled up) in each container
