New Grower Security / Danger - Posting grows

You know the usa government has publicly said that they have the means to "go back in time" and listen to any phone conversation. You can take it how ya want, I take it theure recording every phone conversation lol. Thank goodness they are incompetent at what they do lol. There are tons of links of former fbi agents or nsa wistle blowers and of the president himself saying they are doing it and I can share if ya want. Just google nsa admits phone recording.

It's all recorded, emails, calls, etc. stored safely!

It can only be used in retrospect, i.e. if you get caught doing something they can get a warrant to look at your old electronic data if they have enough to convince a judge they need to.

Real time monitoring is done in at least two ways, keyword searching and, for specific individuals, a warrant to monitor electronic communications in real-time is again at the discretion of a judge.

Of course in most countries the anti-terror laws allow a lot of ways to circumvent this procedure. Total bollocks laws of course, only likely to catch the worlds dumbest terrorists.

Anyway, a good data miner/hacker/pirate can profile someone much better and find out pretty much everything about you quite legally so use common sense and stay under everyone's radar!

I just don't feel like the US government is "actively" hunting down small time cannabis growers. I still live by my grow code and I know big bro is watching but I will not live in fear!
I load my pics directly from my old cam to my HD.

WoW!
Lots and lots of stuff in this thread, where to start...
Security on the website. Recall just what info we used to sign up. Is there anything that would aid in your identity? I do not think there is anything in mine. Have you posted anything that might give you away? Do you have anything in your profile? It can be compiled and mined up to a point so if you have been around long enough and left enough clues like stores, events, etc that you may have mentioned. That should do it for the site. Use common sense and think ahead about what you post.
Next would be your IP address, to be completely secure you would need a good VPN. With that in place they could not use that to locate you or associate your address with you. I use Air VPN, reliable, I can have 3 concurrent connections, and great speed.
Email, use a good anonymous provider. I use mycolab one of the last few secure ones.
I don't need to cover EXIF, there is a bunch of good accurate info already posted.

If you were to follow the above recommendations on a clean computer, better yet a sandboxed VM, you will be as close to secure as you can reasonably get. Key word reasonably.

I am legal in my state, I try to comply with the laws. I use the security I mention as a matter of course when using the internet. I don't use it specifically to hide my canna activities. It is always good to act with a reasonable amount of paranoia. Being a young adult in the Nixon era I recall strongly the phrase "Even if you are not paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not going to get you" Or something like that!
Again common sense would dictate that, at least in the US, most LEO's are not out to get us, the small grower. Unless of course you are selling it illegally too. That would put you on their radar. BUT just because they aren't, that is not an excuse to be careless either. As long as there are funds available to law enforcement to go after canna activity, they will do just that. You might be surprised to learn how much there is too.
On that subject, I have been trying to resist the urge to join the conversation, failed!! Need to remember that arresting folks for doing something on the books as illegal is a LEO's job. They do it for a living. They don't do it for some perverse need to bust your balls as it were. Well maybe some do, ya as a matter of fact some really do and get off on it. But I am willing to say that the percentage of bad apples is similar to any other profession. Think about it. Regardless of right or wrong in the big picture if you are breaking the law and get caught, the one catching you is not responsible, you are! Sucks but it's true. Instead of calling names get out and change the law!! OK now I am done and off the soapbox, thanks for listening!!

I would agree with this, Elvis. If someone was online posting industrial type grows, perhaps LEO would take steps to track them down. But it's hard to imagine even the most zealous cop getting the green light from a judge to try and track down a personal grower based on some pics on the Internet. As for this site, we are located in The Netherlands and we take the highest security precautions that we can. Yes there is all sorts of data mining going on out there, and if someone really wanted to track you down, maybe they could. But realistically, the only way you are going to have any trouble from posting here is if you include personal details in text or pictures that may give you away. Even then it would depend on LEO in your area getting that information and then choosing to act on it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are infinitely more at risk from your actions in the real world than you are from anything you post online. Lack of odor control, not disposing of grow materials discreetly, telling the wrong people about your grow - that's the kind of stuff that will get you busted. :peace:

My email I signed up here with is the same for Google+ and Facebook, both of which are rats, not so smart!

I will make a new email account from a public place, new account here encrypted with Tor, then upload pics without metadata through Tor.

I guess this is "goodbye"! :D

Save a trip to a public place and open a new email account with TOR :)

It's a shame we have to hide in the shadows and worry about prosecution for a plant. It's my "GOD" given right to consume cannabis in what ever form I wish.
