Good Morning,

Looking for a Seed Bank that will except Western Union Money Order as payment and will also ship to the good old USA.

My credit union debit card will not work for overseas purchases. I can have the restriction lifted, but I'd rather keep a low profile.

Need to order fem seeds either autos (preferred) or photos.

Sending cash is not what I'd like to do.

Thanks,
BayLee420

Hey bro have you ever tried any of those pre-paid VISA cards you can buy at Walmart or most convenience stores? Have heard a few people using them; might be a good alternative (that's probably more accepted than Western Union) and should still give you a pretty degree of anonymity.

I have ordered from Herbies and Seedsman, using a credit card, and yeah I just had to call the number on the card and have the stores authorized. It got rejected the first time, and thankfully so, I'm glad they're looking out for fraud. By the way, Seedsman is a bit more expensive on shipping, but the seeds seem much fresher. I (and many others) are constantly having problems with Herbie's seeds not germinating. I won't be using Herbie's much anymore for that reason. (actually it turns out that Herbie's just gets all their seeds from Seedsman anyway,)

My credit union does the same thing with my debit card. I just call them and ask that it be opened for a foreign transaction. Not a big deal. They will usually open it for 24 hours. They are just cautious because so many scams and frauds originate overseas. Russia seems to be the worst. Since Dope-Seeds stopped shipping to the US I've been using Herbies. It comes up on my transaction report as HOCUS POCUS NORFOLK GB INTERNET GB.

Thanks for the fast responses. I'll try the pre-paid Visa/Master cards 1st. If I need to call my CU I'll need to do that. The last time I tried to have my CU allow international transactions. The customer service rep was very interested in what I wanted to order, what country and just too much info for my going forward in doing it. I should say it's none of their bees wax, but then.....Big Brother and Banking go together.

Will foreign seed banks except US dollars if used as a pre-paid credit card? Seedmans says euros and pound sterling.

Anthro,

Herbies is the seed bank; they are distributing seeds from other breeders. If you are having germination problems, have you reached out to any of the breeders of the strains you are having problems with? Unless they are improperly storing and shipping them (which seems unlikely considering their reputation,) in my opinion that's probably the last guy I would blame for "my beans won't germ." :Sharing One:

Muddy,

I think (at least based on my few cards from different providers) most foreign/overseas transaction will automatically red flag a fraud alert if it's not normal activity on your account (and that was reassured by a representative from Chase when I called on one of them.) I don't think it's ALL providers though; because I have another bank card that has ZERO problems with me ordering from anywhere in the world and I've never called them once to set up any of that access. :dunno:

BayLee, on most seed bank sites there's a drop-down menu to select USD prices. Seedsman has one in the upper right hand part of the main screen. You should see "My Account" then "Login" then to the right of that, the drop-down menu.

My credit union changed their policy about 2 years ago because of the high incidents of overseas fraud they were running to. Unfortunately they didn't notify anyone. It was only after I tried to place an order and my card was rejected, that I called and found out what the story was. They have never questioned me on what I was buying or from whom. I just tell them I need my card opened for a foreign transaction and they take care of it.

I've only used a pre paid card once, a Green Dot, and they required all my information, name, address, SS number, DoB, etc. so I saw no advantage to using it over my debit card.

Yeah they seem to have put some restriction on a lot of overseas buys.I use a wal mart visa card myself.I load the money onto it and then make sure they have the clearance for the transaction which should be a quick call and you saying this buy is ok n its never been an issue for me.CC and others should be the same way too.
