My credit union changed their policy about 2 years ago because of the high incidents of overseas fraud they were running to. Unfortunately they didn't notify anyone. It was only after I tried to place an order and my card was rejected, that I called and found out what the story was. They have never questioned me on what I was buying or from whom. I just tell them I need my card opened for a foreign transaction and they take care of it.

I've only used a pre paid card once, a Green Dot, and they required all my information, name, address, SS number, DoB, etc. so I saw no advantage to using it over my debit card.

Ditto on the requesting access to foreign transactions; they never asked me anything about what I was buying. Not everybody buying internationally is scoring cannabis seeds.

Do all pre-paids require that information? Would be good info to know!

I don't know, but do agree, that would be good to know. When I saw that I just figured what's the point? Wouldn't surprise me though if they did. I haven't confirmed this yet, but I was told just the other day that the IRS is now starting to monitor banking more closely looking for large cash transactions. They automatically assume that anyone dealing in cash is either avoiding taxes or involved with drugs. Bastards!

This used to be a way to add security to your order (purchase a pre-paid card in cash, then use that to make your online order) but these cards no longer work with any international order due to a change in laws that occured in 2012.

That is not the case BayLee, maybe with some cards but I have one I have used several times with no problems at all. It is a refillable card, not a "gift card" per se, but it works flawlessly and was purchased at Walmart.

Son of Hobbes, nah I didn't worry much about the ones that didn't germ, it was only two beans out of 5. I know they have a great reputation and I don't "blame" anyone or anything I just seem to have better luck with beans from sealed breeder packs from Seedsman than the individual beans from Herbies. No biggie

I have a USPS worker friend and he said just send cash. There may be a chance of being stolen, but 99% of all international letters go unchecked.

It's not the cannabis seed purchases that the 2012 law is about. On line Poker sites were the biggest looser in this law.

Per our wonderful..... ( NOT ) Homeland Suppression Errr.. Security.... ALL bank accounts, etc must have a Soc Sec recorded so that they can be sure your not laundering drug money ( uh uh ). ALL bank account, debit cards, credit cards now even some gift cards require it. Banks have to report any transaction totaling $10,000 or more. Keep a small balance, make small transactions, and no one will pay attention.

also, Customs can't prove you bought seeds, And the shipper is the guilty party, but they can't touch them. that's why they just confiscate them, not come and arrest you Of course, if you start buying your seeds by the pound, you might have problems...lol!

If your worried, use a money order. I wouldn't send ANYONE cash because rule no. 1 is Trust No One!

If you are Paranoid then why not Buying Seeds within the Us. I heard from a Mate who has a Seedbank that all his Track n Trace send orders to the Us got stopped at Customes and he clearly says on his Side to use untracked Packages. Think customs know their Countries where Seeds n Stuff come from.
