Glad I'm not the only indecisive one.
The few who want to keep it, seem passionate about it. I think that outweighs the...eh, get rid of it group.

I voted to keep it!
:pass:

It seems like a recurring issue that is apparently causing a good amount of distress to somebody though, so I do think not having it around should be an option.

When I first joined in May, I was also confused about what rep was exactly, but after navigating through some journals, it became a little clearer.

I have continued to follow along here, but haven't commented anymore because it seems the issue is with older members. I will say that I've noticed quite a few older, original members coming back after a self-described break from AFN for various, completely understandable "life" reasons and when my path crosses yours, I go out of my way to rep you for the simple fact that you were here long before me, helping to build this.

I've never seen any official criteria for what rep is supposed to be given for, but unofficially I've seen quite a few reasons listed and also demonstrated by more experienced members. All of the reps Ive given fall inside those guidelines. All of the reps I've received fall inside those guidelines. I don't check rep often, but when I do it makes me smile. Idk anything about glitches or ghost points. There was, as @Feenix stated, an issue this summer after people remembered they had a rep button I guess?? That was a long time ago, but I do recall offering to give up my 15,000 rep points at that point, as well. I can't stand the thought of somebody actually being upset by all of this anymore now than I could then. I was told no.. because I can't rep myself. I'm assuming no one else can either?

There is already a limit on the amount of reps a member can give each day. I've seen several of you suggest it. It's already there and has been. Do you know how many rep slaps AFN has allotted you to dispense daily? I do. I can't be the only one. I've maxed it out only 4 times since I've been a member, but it's there and someone put it there long before I decided to stop lurking.

Idk what the answer is, and thankfully I'm not the one who has to provide it!

:bighug:

Does that mean then, @Eyeoftheworld ... you know 23 times more than me?
Reputationally-speaking?

Our paths have only crossed a couple times so I have no idea which one of us "knows" more, but if I had to guess I'd say we probably both have our strengths and weaknesses!

I voted to keep it, but I also suggested to remove it. I've also offered my points several times. People don't like me because I have a lot of rep points...

I think you are alright ... I also think participation leads to more reps thats fact. I didnt know there was a rev limiter on the daily reps.

There has been a huge effort put in over many months by a group of people in Live Stoners. Countless hours chatting, getting to know other's, and just being helpful.

Whatever the end result is i I accept. But not going to follow this thread any longer.

And that's my point.
Btw ... I like you. x
A 'newbie' on the site may have a 'rep' of zero, but may have been growing for 20 years.
Imagine if Jorges Cervantes joined tomorrow under a nom-de-plume. No-one would listen. Zero rep.
I'm sure it wouldn't take long tho' ... I'd spot him a mile off, wouldn't you?

I just think it's an indicator of having been here a while, that's all.
