Love the responses in here everyone, thank you so much for all the feedback! We have a lot to weigh in and lot to consider with the decision, that's for sure! We'll take a good hard look at the responses and poll and see if we can find a resolution that will work. Some of you will dig it. Some of you won't. We'll try to find a common middle ground though and that's the important thing!

You know..I Love Rep and what it stands for.
I Bet everyone posting here has had a rep slap as a Thank You from me for doing something Nice for another member..or just wishing you a great weekend.

I Think it is a great way to say Thank You..you made a difference...and Thank You's cost absolutely Nothing..but mean a lot to the Receiver.
A little word to say that Someone noted your kindness...:bighug:..like a Hug in a Mug.

I Think we should use it More Often..you have a Rep Stash..Use it...:headbang:..Appreciate people...Spread the Love.

Thank You. Means a Lot.

I've had mine knocked down so many times in site change overs I Kinda don't feel Protective of it..and Think it would be Nice to be Zero'd each year and started Fresh..maybe attach a Prize to it every xmas..but we have seen it can be manipulated out..so we'd have to look carefully at it.

But..that being said..I Know losing Rep when it happens is one of the things we get the most complaints about..members that have worked hard for years to get it do get very upset about it..:headbang:
It is a great way to say thank you! Mossy's on to it, as usual, cultivating the community. I'm changing my vote

The tides are changing. It's really nice to see people put their personal opinions aside for a moment and look at it from others prospective, then change their opinion. In a world so hostile, this is a rarity. You all, are truly awesome

You too Yeatster! Thats what makes afn such a badass place.

Another option could be for management to adjust upwards the reputation of those long standing members that have contributed. And i mean a big adjustment.

I'm not looking at it from any others prospective,Either get rid of it altogether or give me tons damn it!

I am a new member but I love AFN just as much as anybody else here.

Thanks to all of you and what Ive learned in the short time I've been here, I'm pretty sure I'm growing some AWESOME pot right now!!

Here here!

I just finished up my first grow and am in the process of enjoying some really good cannabis. Lurking and looking around at what some of the experienced growers have done here certainly helped make my first grow a success but I gotta give kudos to modern day genetics. Mercy!

Congratulations on your first grow!!
:bighug:

I've been impressed also with the genetics involved. It's quite a bit of work to stabilize those genetics from what I understand. I'm also continuously fascinated with the different methods and styles of the growers and the wide range of results they achieve.

The genetics seem sound, but don't sell yourself short. There's a lot of room for error, and you just grew your own pot! :d5:

Not a small accomplishment at all!

I'd like my penny's worth if I may ...

When I first arrived here, I had no idea what 'rep' was, whether I should give it, be grateful for receiving it, or get upset if I didn't get any ... and getting 'slapped with a rep' .. well, that just reminded me of parking wardens..! Ouch.

May I make a suggestion?
I think 'badges' are where it's at..! You dish them out for outstanding advice, grows, knowledge or whatever .. a badge for each domain.
To qualify, there are criteria, and you can set them.
Lose the 'Fat Kitty' thing ... the badges have to be earned by exam, mean something, and rare.
Plant Doctor / Auto Guru / Photo Guru / Root Guru / Humidity Guru / Nutrient Guru / Soil Guru ... etc.
It's not that hard to spot the peeps who knows what they're talking abouts, methinks.

Just an idea.

Edit: Oh, and a Shed-Building Guru badge, too..! :smoking:

Not sure if this is coming across as I mean it ... the 'rep' system is based upon the general user's perception of advice, good or bad. And surely the idea behind 'reputation' is the quality of advice? And quality can only be measured by an adjudicating authority, surely, not the general user-base.
