Grow Mediums Simple DWC with Evol

Ok guys I'm probably going to have a lot of questions. I built a DWC system out of a cat litter bucket. I spray painted it to stop light penetration and will be using 2 airstones. I also put in a tube so I can see how high my water is.
I'll post pics shortly.

I germed 1 ERK auto in rockwool and it should sprout in the next 1 - 2 days. I'll be using House & Garden nutrients. If all goes well with this simple setup I might make a bigger system out of a 50 gal bin I have.

just a noobie myself, but you will wanna lose that clear tubing for the same reason as you painted your bucket.
Get ya some black at HomeDepot or lowes. Will reduce your chance of algae and other problems.

Looks good man. Black tubing would eliminate the purpose of the level indicator in the first place Woops. Any algae will stay in the tube anyway, there's too much pressure for it to work its way into the bucket, and it can be cleaned out quickly enough.

The clear tubing is fine, just ductape a rag over it for a couple weeks. After that the foliage will shade it plenty.

Nice setup! as for the drain tube, if you look around you can find blue or green clear tubing. But it should be fine if you keep it covered. Looking forward to your DWC grow. DWC rocks!

Hey Evol, just had a read through the thread and everything looks good so far. My main concern is how powerful is your air pump? Having excess amounts of oxygen running through the res will help in avoiding a lot of the common problems in DWC. how big is the res? For example if it's 15L then you need a minimum of 15lpm of air being pushed through the res, I try to go double (30lpm per 15L) as I feel this is what pushes the explosive growth people expect from DWC. I'm always lurking along with a few others so any questions shoot away brother :Sharing One:

Well I can tell you that the bucket holds about 4 gal and the air pump is a dual outlet "aqua culture" household aquarium pump. I hope its enough...
