Howdy boys and girls,

Must say -- you guys are a lively bunch! Been learning heaps here -- and I know I've been quiet but I don't multitask. I shut up and learn, then I pipe up. Time to pipe up. You've inspired me to wet some seeds; gonna give this LED caper a go. Haven't done this in a long time. Hope I'm not too rusty. Hope I don't embarrass myself! You'll have to be patient with me while I figure this uploading and managing the thread trick, I'm a computer moron! Anyhow...

Some data: Using one of those 150W green eBay things (I know it's cheap but I like to start cheap and simple and when I get the hang, then I spend money. Really want one of those GN units!) This thing has Grow and Bloom switches (bloom simply turns on some more reds) and a hell of a loud fan! Still, let's see what happens. Using AutoPot pots (they have an automatic gravity feed valve that controls wet and dry to the pots). They are definitely a passive system and low maintenance (not in any mood for aeroponics or dwc again just yet). It's a small tent, maybe enough for four small plants.

The plant in the pic is an Auto Amnesia. Using my company's own brand of nutes with a tweak for the issues I expect to confront with LED. Plant is exactly seven days from spouting. Waiting on some more to pop. Using coco with perlite and very mild nutes at this stage.

Wish me luck people. Any feedback is gratefully accepted. Not so old a dog I can't learn new tricks--

I like your setup. How much heat does that light produce ?

Good Luck !!:D:

:pop: looking forward to seeing this grow progress :) best of luck buddy and here is a bit of grow:karma Cloud: to get you going!!
Peace and :welcome:

Not much heat off that thing at all bro. Except for the fan noise, it seems pretty decent -- but I suppose we'll find out if it's any good in the next bunch of weeks. Thanks for the luck, hope I don't need too much of it.

Thanks Charles. We'll see what happens, huh? -- but I'm enjoying the shit outta firing up a light again! You people here at AFN rock. Didn't think anyone could inspire me to wet seeds anymore.

I started with 1 CFL about 3 months ago and now seriously upgraded from spending far too much time in this site chatting to like minded people :) and getting all kinds of new ideas on how to improve current setup :).Like you said i also have my eye on a GN led :). Hey man,
Yeah, this place is great for ideas. That green thing I'm using is an eBay 'special'. Something I watched Nomis use for his first grow. It seemed to work pretty well. We'll see how it goes -- but I'm really hanging for a GN unit...

Welcome to the site, us old guys need to get back in the mix. Looks like you know what you are doing, think I will tag along. I have only been growing for about 18 months and I can't believe how easy and fun these autos can be. Best hobby I ever had and this really is the best site to learn at. The only problem is you will never stop buying new stuff to try, unless the wife takes the credit card. About LEDs', I started with (and still use) a cheap agromax 135w UFO that came with my tent kit and was able to grow 5 plants, 3gal bags, ok. I got a blackstar 240w uv and boy what a differance, yeilded twice as much but 10 months later half the lights quit. Gotham is going to take of me, (I hope), and I will continue to use LEDs but if I were you GN is sounding a lot like the flavor of the month, for now price might be a better way to pick your new LED. A shot of cal/mag between feedings seem to help with LED grows. Good luck and good grow karma.

Yeah man, I know what you mean. The lads and I have grown with damn near sticks and stones in the past -- you know, factory HIDs and top fed perlite -- with pretty good results, so I like to prove a tech before I splurge. GN are definitely flavor of the month here and I don't know how much of it hype but time will tell. I still want one, eventually. These autos are a trip. Never grown one. I know they don't like the EC I would have used for photos so I'm being extra cautious (maybe too cautious, this thing ain't moving too fast). Thanks for the karma bro.
