Hi friends!

Before today I wouldn't really buy into the belief that there could/would be anything different between reg and af where squishing is concerned but I experienced something odd today.

My hubby and I are now squishing some of my home grown and collecting it isn't easy. It helps to put the parchment in the freezer for a while but it just seems very runny and not sticky as other possibly older bud's concentrate would be.

Today we tried some of my recent OG Kush autoflower and not only was the return lighter colour but it collected perfectly and had a pretty significant yield! This is surprising because the buds didn't seem all that crystally and very very dense. But shows it's very hard to judge a bud pre-squish! Of course, all of my buds are well-hydrated with Boveda 62's which makes a big difference.

Has anyone else found AF results in easy to collect concentrate? Any idea why this would be compared to regular seed bud harvested on the same day/cured same length of time etc?

Thanks & cheers!

Not sure it really differs between autoflowers and photos when pressing. Just some strains seem to produce better results over others. Then you have to take in effect humidity of flowers, pressing temperature, pressing pressure and pressing times.

I’ve been “squishing” a bunch lately, mainly to make vape oils. Started with a flat iron and now have a Dabpress/harbor freight thing. I grow as a hobby, for me and giving it away to friends. Anyway, hobby turned to a consistent once a month harvest of an auto or photo. I’ve since switched to only autos, much easier of course.
All that said I’ve been experimenting due to overstock, ha.
Pretty much all I’m sure of is the quality of the initial product has everything to do with the rosin you get. Auto, photo, kief, hash, trimmings all squished

The experimentation is the best. I recently over-hydrated 5 grams with an 84% Boveda for 24 hours. There's a definite increase in yield and surprisingly, it didn't hinder collection. The bud we used was cured only a month or so and it was very gooey rather than sticky. After over hydration it collected almost perfectly. Odd no? Maybe the over moisture helped the resins run but then oxidize very quickly with the heat of the press.

We just squished 5 grams of OG Kush auto and it's unbelievable. It's been with a Boveda 62 since drying. Pressed into a puck then pressed. Plates at 185F pressed for approx 4 minutes, unsure of pressure. The colour!!!!!

very nice. I thought about trying some fresher buds before cure but I was concerned the extra moisture would cause steam and mess things up. I've got a trans siberian that I'll be chopping soon so I'll give it a go.
185F for 4 minutes? I like it. I haven't been that daring yet. I've tried 195f-225f for various amounts of time, never more than a minute and a half yet,
Thanks for chiming in. All of my flower is stored in Cvaults with Boveda packs, I think I have 8 or 9 in various sizes. Awesome products

Oh I can't wait to hear how this turns out. CVault & Boveda is a great combination!

It very difficult to press fresh bud. Sometimes I get a great dab others pool of mesh. I am starting a journey to make live rosin. Good luck I would freeze the shit out of them 1st. Play with time and temp, maybe better to go longer at lower temperature. Be careful with the steam lol.
