Grow Mediums Starting autos for 3 gal hempy?

Hey everyone! New guy to this site as I figured this is the place for auto help...

Experienced some in photo grows but autos are a bit trickier..it seems my plant is stunted.

I started it in the final bucket (3 gal). I think the time it took for the root to hit the res stunted the lil girl.

Any advice on starting autos and transplanting them...? I've always heard not to transplant autos, but there had to be a way to get them going fast and furious...

Any help...and thanks ahead of time!! Here is my first indoor auto Think Different by Dutch Passion. Day 32. Ran into cal def last week working on this 1/4 strength nutes deal..

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated...

Sorry to hear you're having troubles and there's not been a load of input here.

We're struggling to find a hempy grower to help you out. I've got very limited knowledge of hempy (and haven't used it)

I'm seeing cal-mag rust spots, and the leaves don't look too happy. My best guess is a PH issue and seem to recall 5.8PH being the magic number for hempy (its how i treat my coco feeds which is also considered soiless)

Hope someone can chime in with some more thoughts for you!!

Haha!! It's nice to see the odd hempy grower. Over at GC there are a few but not many. Maybe there is a reason autos aren't too popular with the hempy method. We shall see

I can help with hempy, I've been using it for a few years now with photos but recently started back up using Autos.

True, the way that autoflower tap roots grow downwards looking for the gold puts us at somewhat of a disadvantage. They start off slow at first but once the tap hits the res they should TAKE O.

That said, it shouldn't be the reason why your plant might have been stunted this go. It could be a number of things.

Best thing is to learn for next time. I always germinate into rapid rooters or some sort of starting rooter. It makes it easy to place into the container once she sprouts.

Early on you have to hand water every day until she's feeding from the res. Don't worry about ph early on. I use straight perlite so it dries out fairly quickly. You have to keep up on the hand watering early on or she WILL get stunted.

Once she's feeding from the res you can water less. I let the resovoir get close to dry before watering. You can PH to proper hydro range and don't worry about run off ph.

I feed when I see pre sex, wouldn't do it any earlier.

I wasn't sure if it was autos or me, but I concluded it was my fault she got stunted. I needed up giving her a cal def early on by not giving any (very little). It stunted her. I hand water twice daily till roots hit res and usually have great results. This time was the odd duckling....

I use rockwool to start properly ph'd etc so got the Hempy buckets rocking properly. It wasn't sure if I were to do something a little different to ease the slow start period...thanks for you help brother!! [emoji109]
