Grow Mediums Taking the DWC plunge

First hiccup...

Came into my garden this morning to find that the roots were caught up in the recirculating tube which didn't allow it to circulate properly. A quick move of the nozzle gently blows them away.
Almost had a bit of a flood.

My grow space has a flood pan for the floor because I have had a flood:bummer:.

That issue is only going to get worse as the root mass gets larger and larger. You could try pumping the water in from the bottom and out the top but some roots float and clog the top line as well. It is a lot easier to prune the roots away from the top pipe. I personally gave up on the recirculating system because of that problem as well as the space used by the holding tank. Current Culture H2O uses 2" lines on their commercial dwc systems but putting a 2" bulkhead on a bucket is really problematic. If you look at my last grow I used 17 gallon containers (just under 10 gallons 1/2 inch below the net pots) with float valves to keep the water level up from a top - off tank outside the grow space. No recirculation and with good aeration ,this worked well so I don't see why you couldn't do that with a minor adjustment.

Anyhow plants are looking good!

Day 26:

She was down about 2 gal and ppm was at ~300.
I added more solution and got ppm up to around 475. pH is still stable at 5.84.

I added a filter to the recirculation inlet to deter more roots growing into it. So far so good, but now I probably gave the roots something to hold on to.

Take a look at the grow I just finished in the thread "My new grow room" in my signature. The first half is building my new space and the second is Fast Buds Green Crack Auto, Girl Scout Cookies Auto, Zambeza Blueberry Auto and Cream of the Crop Amphetamine Auto. The COTC is just now drying. I have to make some changes in my space before I start the Inb grow.
Nice line-up! [emoji121] [emoji16] [emoji106] [emoji108] [emoji122] [emoji122]

I may do a res change tomorrow since the flowers are a comin'

~6 weeks left

Have a great weekend everyone!

She's going through about a gallon of solution a day.
Trying to raise the ppm but unsure of what she needs. Just trying to keep up with her!
