Seedlings are up!

Well, I'm a bit more functional this morning...lol! The three caps might have been within reason but the vaping of a little Northern Lights kinda pushed me into beddybye time...

But on with the update! I setup the clonebox yesterday to get the water bubbling for a while to oxygenate the water. I ph'd the water to 6.0, and brought the ppms up to 160 by adding a very small amount of Maxigrow, to help the clones along. The water is tap water with a starting ppm of 120. This morning, I removed the seedlings from their paper towel and slipped them into the neoprene collars. They will stay there as long as I can let them, I need time to clear the photo plants from the grow room so that I can setup my DWC res. They will then go into the res in 5" netpots. The lighting will be two 300 watt Topled grow lights. I'll also put the C99 x DD seedlings in the res with them. I'm very curious to see how my personal cross turns out. A second res will be built and the next round of Mephisto genetics will be placed in the new res, after starting out in the clonebox. I'll be growing a total of 12 Mephisto plants and my 2 C99 x DD.

For those who are skeptical about that, my very first grow of autos, I placed seedlings by hand, into soft foam rafts and floated them in my clonebox 1.0...lol. and out of 12 different seedlings I propagated that way, ALL survived just fine. You can see them in my journal:

I was curious about the same thing, I've always understood even the tiniest bit of light leaking into the res is a bad thing.

in that size, the only other choice was clear... I figured the black translucent was ok for now. Will wrap it in insulation later when I insulate my res. I change the water every other day so algae is not a problem. If the water was full of nutes, yes it would be a problem if let go more than a couple of days. I've used a clear one for clones in the past with no ill effects.

Pop do you know why they say not to let light get to the roots? I pull the cups in my unit to test the water and fill res. I'm not sure I'd notice but I've never seen any probs exposing the roots to light.
