Hey Pop, sounds like it will be a green Autumn at your house Grow

Great setup man, you're really picking up production!!

Insulated the res today with 1" foil faced foam insulation. We'll see if insulating with rigid foam works well enough to keep it. I had the insulation anyway so it cost me nothing to re-purpose it this way. Don't have a chiller running yet, the de-humidifier I was going to build one from is a dud. Next month, I'll see if I can scrounge up another for free or cheap lol. Until then, its 2 liter ice bottles so hoping the insulation slows down the need for that.

Well. hdn't planned to update this soon, but thought you might like to know about the insulation work. Now, I didn't do a super job, I cut pieces to make a snug fit to the sides and ducttaped them in place. Apparently even this has made a huge difference!it was about 2:30 pm when i finished the job. I iced the res. Temp dropped to 67.8 At 7:30 pm, the temp was still only 68.7! Less than one degree F in 5 hours! Now thats a good improvement. When I do a res change, I'll put a piece of insulation beneath the res.

Picked up a couple of free coolers also. Going to make a small res with one, maybe use it for the Kratky grow.

Update: after 24 hours, my res is still below the 70.5 starting temp. at 7:30 am, res them was 69.5! factor in room temp obviously. By keeping my room temp below 76F I was able to keep the res below 70F for 24 hours, only using one, 2 liter frozen bottle to cool an 18 gallon res. Of course higher room temps will mean a faster rise in res temp, but with improved insulation, I'm willing to speculate that even in an 80F room, you could keep the res below 70 for close to 24 hours. Eventually, I'll be upgrading to an RDWC system, and will us a DIY chiller in the control res. to cool what may be a 60 gallon + water volume.

Also, the babies are looking fine! I see some minor growth already. Transition in DWC is much gentler on seedlings IMO.

Update:
Babies are swimmingly happy....lol! Adaption to DWC has happened quickly, just as expected. They have grown without missing a beat. Res change tomorrow and just as well, got a bit of a pH issue, but that will be corrected with the res change.. Monday I'll soak the Auto Cush seeds and get round 2 started! I'll have the second res built before they're ready to transplant.
