Pop do you know why they say not to let light get to the roots? I pull the cups in my unit to test the water and fill res. I'm not sure I'd notice but I've never seen any probs exposing the roots to light.

I suspect exposure to too much light for too long could damage them they are not adapted to light exposure. That being said, I previously had a clear tote for a clone res and never had problems with it. In fact, I had seedling grow 8" roots in three days in it! I suspect the plastic blocks the UV that would be damaging. The biggest problem with light getting in is the possibility of root rot.by changing the res every 2-3 days I've never had that problem. Thats also why i bought the smaller res, easier to handle at res change time. The other was rather heavy when full of water, was too easy to make a mess...

I set up the main res. My seedlings in the clonebox already had roots so long they started to tangle! I transplanted the 2 Chemdogging with the longest roots. In a day or two, the other 2 Chemdogging should be ready. I'll also be transfering 2 Stoned Jack and I have 6 netpots in this 18 gallon res. I'll be setting up a second res, and eventually, Ill be converfting them to RDWC.

Pop my Mephistos already have broad Roots sticking out of the Pods since a week or so they needed 7-8 Days to fully root thru a 4 Liter Coco Pod. Really strong Genetics except of my Weird Sour Crack x Chemdoggin. But that can happen Mother Nature sometime creates some Freaks. Lil ones looking Lovely good Job Pop.

Thanks Medi! they are doing very nicely I must say. One more likely to go in the res today, hoping all will be in by tomorrow. I'm still on the fence about the Flowerbomb Kush. Think I'll leave the lights on 12/12 for a few more days, iI don't think the autos care, Will go to 18/6 in a few days unless I change my mind and just chop her. She's loaded with golfball size very hard nugs!

The res is ph'd to 5.9 no nutes yet will ad a small amount in a day or 2, ppms will be 200 or less. Here's the Res:

BIG changes in the grow room! I changed my mind and chopped the Flowerbomb kush! She was loaded with nugs! I'll post pics and a smoke report on her in the future. But now, the flower room is a grow room again, and all plants in there are autos. The two pots in there are test grows of Stoned Jack, and MOB x STONE x JACK. they have maybe a couple weeks left.

all four Chemdogging are in the res. One Stoned Jack to go. They transplants from yesterday are doing fine, no apparent shock. I think this is another benefit of DWC, I've noticed that seedlings take right off after transplanting, even after being handled, etc.

I'll also be doing Durrty Dragon x Cheese in a Kratky bucket. Yep, no airstone, no res change, and I'm using a 3 gallon bucket. Lets see what happens with this! The DDxCheese seedling will hopefully be ready tomorrow.

I'll move the autos in the cab out into the room also and I'm going to grow a special project in there. I'm going to grow out the two, Blueberry Headband x Durrty Dragon I have in a 3 gallon pot. hopefully I'll have a breeding pair, but if only females, I'll make one a momma plant for cloning and breed her ( if she doesn't auto ). The young plants are already putting on good size and look good. I'll start a separate journal for them.
