Are autos more power hungry than photo period. I guess it depends on how long you veg for.

I'm just wondering if a short veg period then going 12/12 be more cost effective then 18/6 for 8-12 weeks.

Autoflowers have no light preclusions. 12/12 for an autoflower will debilitate the grow. An autoflower is akin to being a timer. It has a process within a time frame and will generally meet that time frame. 12/12 will save some electricity, but growth will be slower and not as robust. Before Autocobs, I ran my traditional led lights around the clock.

That's the information that i have read up so far that auto need at least 18/6.

I'm just trying to work out if going photo would be more cost effective with a short veg period and then 12/12.

Badly worded first time.

:)

18/6 is highly recommend. Plants will grow 12/12 but any money you save, you will definitely loose more from your harvest. Do yourself a favour stick to 18/6 and smile come harvest.

Ohh I just see you rephrase the question, is it more cost effective running photos with a extension of 4 weeks? the difference is negligible, all depends on your electric rate. If you own a eco6/8 plan etc growing photos while having the lights on time through out the 6/8 hours of cheap electric, it would be cheaper but not by much tbh. Your playing off this.. photos 1261hrs of light on (4weeks veg 9week flower) vs 1386hrs in 11 week autoflowers (1260 on a 10 week) so its really not much plus you should take into consideration daily charge from electrical company the difference is honestly negligible.
