I've got these top buds in a closet at high 60Fs to mid 70Fs and 45 to 60 rH. I have a small tent fan in the closet running but not hitting the buds directly.
They were hung about 40 hours ago.
They seem to be drying good. The outsides are considerably drier to the touch.

As a relatively new grower I've never grown bud this thick so thereof have never attempted to dry them.

Was it okay to leave them on the branches this thick? I don't think I'll have a mold issue but it has got me thinking.
Again, they do seem to be drying okay.

The other lower branches and buds are in a screen basket in the tent with the exhaust fan and a floor fan going. We're having rain and it's in the garage so humidity is bothering me. Lower temps in the 60s and rH to mid 70s.
This is why I chose the bedroom closet for drying the top shelf bud.
Also, I pretty much trimmed at the "sugar line". I mostly make infused coconut oil so I don't tight trim the buds. I'll touch up some of these if I decide to "retail" any of them.

Anyway...am I doing okay?

From my own personal experiences, you are asking for trouble...... Is there any reason why you are not cutting the colas into smaller pieces that will dry faster, and SAFER.... Other than the visual delight....?

Stunning colas/buds, it would be heartbreaking to lose any of 'em to rot, have you tried to pry them open here and there to check for any "internal" signs of trouble?

Drying whole colas..... been there, won't be there again.....

I'm taking your advice.
I broke that bud in threes and will do the others also.
I can sleep better this way.
Thanks

Of course it is possible to dry larger buds/colas with success but as corgi said the risk of mould/rot is also increased .

I'm cutting them up as pictured above. Especially with humidity on the rise.
I also gently pulled the buds apart from each other to allow air circulation.
Thanks for the help!

No probs it looks like your doing great but look into the brown paper bag drying method too. Iv never looked back it works a treat.
My problem is I live by the coast so higher humidity. I'm thinking next grow I should invest in a dehumidifier rather than hoping for dry weather...lol.

could not agree more, big colas look great and it sometimes seems so destructive breaking them down, but mold on bud is such a shitty experiance that I never want to have again. Break them babies down, i try and keep around golf ball size at the most.

I understand that my moldy bud more than likely started before drying, but why take the risk after all the hard work.

enjoy your harvest, looks good.

Are you saying it's better and safer to dry whole big colas in a brown paper bag?
