If we can overwater Cannabis plants in soil, how come they don't become overwatered when they're in DWC setups where the roots are constantly suspended in water or constantly have water flowing over them?

Have never grown hydroponic or DWC. Mind the stupidness, couldn't find an appropriate answer.

i once liked the quote "there are no stupid questions"

but come on

its aeration dude , a constant supply of air to the roots

if you waterlog soil there will be no air , thats why we let it dry somewhat between watering , when we water we are giving both water and air , but the air wont remain or is used up so constant water is bad , in hydro constant water is good but you also have constant air

get it ? im a bit baked so mighta made a mess of that lol

peace

i once wondered the same friend. haha not a stupid question. its similar to a fish tank air pump that pumps air 24/7 into the plants container via 1/4 tubing.

In dwc you are not putting the whole root system under water the basket remains above water and gets misted by the bubbles breaking the surface. This is my first time doing dwc I have always been a sunshine type of grower but Im changing my tune quickly I have 1 auto in dwc and it is out preforming any outdoor grow Iv done Ill do my final jugment when I see how big my crop turns out to be. but as right now its 1 month old onto its 11th set of leaves and is adding a new set every 12 hrs im also having to give it 1/4 gallon of water every 12 hrs to keep up. Its 8" in diameter and 6" tall leaves are popping every 1/4" or so on the main and there are 4 side shoots that are sticking there little heads out from under the canopi. Ill be updating my grow thread this weekend with some new pictures.

its a bubble bucket not a mister

maybe everyone ive known personally has been doing it wrong , and maybe i have too because we all fill to the rim

hasnt hurt any and the added water/nutrients/air/space seems logical

So what would happen if say I stuck a small low voltage air stone bubblier inside my pot 15L pot (reg soil with 40% perlite)? Like placed it in the middle?

Over watering happens because the plant is suffocating or drowning. When the medium is waterlogged, the root system cannot access oxygen. Roots love oxygen. The reason hydro setups don't get "overwatered" is because the industrial powered air pumps are saturating the growing medium (Which is water, in hydro) with high levels of dissolved oxygen. Also, certain roots are designated to uptake water, and nutrients, while others can absorb oxygen. So some of the roots that reside above the water line, are also pulling in fresh oxygen.

Dissolved oxygen levels decrease as temperatures increase. This is why many hydro gardeners must use chillers for their reservoirs (Bad bacteria also loves a lack of oxygen). If you want to see a hydro plant overwatered, unplug the air pump (or make my word for it haha). She will show symptoms almost immediately

Yea !!! this is what I mean. Stupid questions are what they are, But its how stupid questions are answered is the real telling point.
I for one CHAD thought that this was a very good stupid question.
was pondering the same darn thing.
