My water level in my dwc is just below the bottom of the net pot. Are you talking about filling the whole bucket up? Or what not understanding "to the rim" means could you clear that up?

The ression I do this is because you want the roots to look for the o2 and have the bubbles pop at the bottom of the net pot to keep my rockwool moist

im talking filling the bucket to the top , ive never grown full time with hydro , just a bubble bucket grow here and there , but after 40 years of growing ive done a lot of bubble bucket grows and always done so this way , and anyone ive known/met also do so this way , its deep water not mister , to me hearing what you are doing sounds more like you are trying to mimic a mister/sprinkler system and not a deep water one

but as i always say , even after this many years im still learing as is everyone , so hearing from others is great , if i can improve something great , even if something works for me and appears to work well im always open to the idea of improving

I believe having the waterline under the netpot is to make sure the medium (rockwool) stays moist but doesn't absorb enough to drown the plants.

it wont drown when the water has air in it , none of mine have ever drowned , and like i mentioned i just recently did two seeds straight into the rocks no cubes used and submerged completely under water , they germed and grew fine

might have to pull the hydro experts in here as im genuinely curious as to whats best and "WHY"

I'm sure it works fine for you without rockwool cubes I like to make my roots look for air and grow huge by doing this

like i said , roots arent a problem , 2 small autos filled the bucket completely with their roots

i just wanna know if i can improve , but not only that i wanna know why , but real life experience and not something written/published on the net , i asked in the mod section if any of the hydro guys could come pay this thread a visit , i hope they do and soon because i wanna start another bucket grow soon , id like to start it in the next day or 2 but will wait to hear some more advice

Yep my water is right at the bottom of the net pot this may vary by a 1/2" or so but mine drinks so much water if I over fill it a little the plant sucks it down quickly . Mine is at 31days old and it is doing better than any outside dirt grow I did but they are two different type of plants so maybe quick growing is normal for dwc.

That's how I do mine as you can see from the pic the black mark below the ziptie is my water level



My net pot is 5 1/2 inchs deep so my water level is about 6inchs from top of bucket. Almost 4 gal out of a 5 gal bucket
