New Grower Topping autoflowers?

Just finished FIMing a couple side-bys.
Doing the FIM at the 3 week mark doesn't hurt a thing.
However, in all honest it had no positive impact either. Pretty much same yield, same time, same trichs, just 2 colas instead of one,, and wet, measured very much identicle.

I can't see it hurting anything,, but can't see it helping either. :2cents:

I don´t top my autoflowers anymore becouse i think that they get so chocked of it that they take up to one week to recover afterwords and return to it´s normal growth again. But i did some experimentation a while back when i grew the father of all autoflowering cannabis; Lowryder #1. The ones i didn´t top did better then the ones that i topped in their third week.
The Lowryder #1 is a very small and tiny strain, so maybe you can get better results if you grow a larger strain. Also i have to say that i tried to top a Easy Ryder (AK-47 x Lowryder #2) and the results in the end were kind of similar. The untopped one did better. But i think you should, if you want, try to experiment with topping autos. It´s fun to compare the results after.
Also if you are to grow any of Stitch super autos it is ok to top. :)

/H.

oops thats explains a few things. what about pruning is that ok:peace: sj

a question Po boy... I'm interested in a couple of things.. Have you grown them out without topping too??? If so what day did they show sex topped vs untopped??? The reason I ask is every time I have topped my strains of autos(RRF and RRF x Purple Jems) they delay sex by up to 2 weeks vs untopped mine normally show sex at day 12-16... as a side note everyone I topped (there's not been many..lol..) grew into a bigger plant overall, took 2-3 weeks longer to show sex and to finish but did not yield much if any more for it... I don't mind bigger but the longer to finish and no noticeable improvement in yield makes me not to top my strains of autos...

hello Scyntra, yes, i have grown them out without topping. they grew into really nice single colas that produced excellent yields, but they were taller than i like. my biggest producer was a double cola Northern Lights. topping for 4 colas produces just as good a yield and they do not get as tall. i have noticed no notable difference between single, double and multiple cola. all procuded great smoke and plenty of it. also, by topping when the plants are so young i have not noticed and delay in flowering, which is usually about 3 weeks after germination. GL

I accidentally topped 4 auto's over the past year without any major impact on yield. I would never top through choice as it seems more logical to bend if you have the space. I have noticed that the plants which lost their heads ended up producing much chunkier buds, and one HBD which lost maybe three nodes down from the top at about week 4 grew into a melon sized solid ball of bud. That plant outwieghed her 7 sisters by about 20%! strange but true :wiz:

Topping autos

i've had nice yields (plus additional stealth) by topping autos. topping no later than ten days after germination is a necessity. i usually top on day 8.

left pic - topped plant 8 days after germ
right pic - 7 days later.

"necessity" thats a strong word, I personally feel that topping is not good at all but thats just from my personal experiances......thats just my :2cents:..

as i mentioned, topping is a stealthier way to grow if the situation calls for it. "necessity" for topping no later that 10 days after germ is because autos begin flowering so early in their grow cycle. GL

More info please! What lights and strain?

How do you feel about final yield vs non-topping? With photos its definitely a got-to yield booster, but thats because you can extend veg if you like. Wouldn't topping set back the plant by at least a week in growth, but not flowering time?

I have thought about trying that and have topped some larger strains after they were over 4 feet that did fine. Do you have some pictures of grows that were topped?
