New Grower Total Newb

Here some better pics xia recovered well from the hps light and seems very happy with the 23 watt cfl for now..looks like they all are starting to get their second set of leaves. I went to the hydro shop today and after talking with the dude I decided on the x nutrients line up : grow bloom and a bottle of micro nutrients. Has anyone ever use this line of nutes? uploadfromtaptalk1390696033881.jpguploadfromtaptalk1390696053569.jpguploadfromtaptalk1390696082064.jpguploadfromtaptalk1390696107457.jpg I also attached a pic of the way to see the cfls are set up. Are they to close ? The girls are only 5 days old

When I water around the outside how far away from the stem should I be watering. Each plant one 23watt CFL above it . According to my IR thermometer the temperature on the leaves range from 70 to 80 degrees

. So I bit the bullet and bought a dirt genius 6 inch fan. Has anyone ever used one

well, I couldn't get the light issue fixed soon enough for Emma she ended up kicking the bucket. Xia was stunted but was able to recover. And Lily unfazed whatsoever. That dirt genius is perfect I also got a new bulb I bought my equipment used and didn't realize the older the bulb the hotter it gets gets. Now the temps are between 74 and 79 consistently.uploadfromtaptalk1391462569033.jpgLilly seems to be ok..Day 13

When is a good age to start LST?

Check your temps at soil level also..if its around 75 your good then..I like my roots warm and happy...I water so it soaks toward the stem so the root reach out..If you ever do one in a cup then you can get a better grasp on how much roots a plant that size has ..it will have more than you think ..start past the leaf.:karma Cloud:

Okay first lesson I have learned with growing, never buy used bulbs are ballast. Emma didn't make it too much heat stress didn't realize I used bulb produces more heat. I got a new bulb and wow the heat reduced by 8 degrees . Now my balance is acting up I have a new digital one arriving today should be there when I get home. Both of the girls that survived are looking well. Xia is still a little small but Lily seems to not be phased by anything. Lol I will take pics later on. I gave them 200 ppm of veg nutes on Monday and they were not fazed whatsoever. Especially Lily. I'm going to be starting a new pot today to replace Emma this time I'm going to germinate straight in soil.

It seems lily is taking off and doing well. Xia is still a little short but she seems to be growing do leaves I hope she starts to get taller soon. I did L st on both of them but I think I'm going to just let it grow straight up. All comments and suggestions are welcome.uploadfromtaptalk1391879607001.jpgXIA

That's interesting! We all learned something from this. i'd never thought of the bulbs getting hotter as they get older. :Sharing One:

Yup. From what I've read and understand as the filament in your bulb where's down its producing less light but yet your ballast is still producing energy into that bulb so instead of it converting that energy into light its converted into heat the more the filament where is out. Don't quote me on it that's just my understanding of it. Lol
