I'll try my best to be brief. Firstly, I have no experience growing medicine at all. So please forgive my ignorance. I have been doing quite a bit of online research and due to budget constraints have purchased the basic necessities to get going. To be quite honest, thirty years ago I never would have thought of growing, but here I am. The primary goal of growing is the production of medicine for personal use. Many, many years ago, in a split second my life was changed and I suffered a multitude of serious injuries which could have very easily been fatal, as a result I have been left with both physical and mental scars. As many know, the doctors are very willing to throw copious amounts of pharmaceutical drugs at you and I can't cope with them any longer.

In any case, the location of my indoor operation has been chosen and fitted out. Secrecy and security are top priorities, fingers crossed that the innocuous appearance of my shed won't attract any attention from my nosy neighbors to the right and left. Presently I'm using a 80cm square by 160 cm high tent, inline fan, carbon filter, initial 300 watt CFL and later a 600 watt digital HPS. My plan is start small, perhaps two plants, such as Industrial Plant CBD, Exodus Cheese CBD or White Widow. Fortunately, I do have a great variety of seeds to choose from. I don't think heat will be an issue. I am concerned about high humidity though. I am literally surrounded by the sea and my test run with garden veggies has revealed tent humidity over 80%, not sure how my plants will cope with that. My partner will vapour lock if I steal the house dehumidifier and re-purpose it for my grow tent. She's already not 100% keen on the whole setup anyway. Anyway, I like the look and feel of this place and am desperately trying to absorb as much knowledge as I possibly can. Cheers

hi and welcome :pass:
safety and security top priorities for many of us.not sure how you gona manage the 80% hum, hopefully you get some answers to that soon.
loads of info to absorb here.
pop into live stoners if you get stuck,or just for a chinwag.
good luck.

Hey there and welcome! Pretty new around here myself and gotta say it really is a fantastic community - you've come to the right place.

Re the humidity, how is the airflow in the tent? Have you any fans running as increased airflow will help the humidity. Another option is to put in some newspapers. These will absorb moisture from the air.

Something to also consider is the heat that will be generated by that 600w HPS your planning. I run a 250w in a space about 2/3 the size and need a decent extratction fan, cooltube for the bulb and oscillating fan to keep temps around 27C.

Positive vibes with the grow!

Thanks for the welcome. I've got decent ventilation, but I may have to move a few things around in the shed to optimize airflow. I'll certainly try the newspaper trick. If all else fails I will have to run the dehumidifier in the block shed outside the tent. Hopefully I can get away with running the HPS at 250 to 400 watts.

I was newbie from the UK once myself........We have a great section on the medical benefits in our forums, so do explore. There is nothing better than growing your own meds. Best of luck my friend. We will help you all the way. Never be afraid to ask for help. But do watch out for pesky penguins. They can be troublesome.

Welcome to AFN..............eP.

Hi Digitalis,
Good luck with your grow, this place is a fountain of knowledge and support from what I can see in my short time here.
I wonder if some of the moisture in the air can be dealt with by using rice, cat litter or even those silicone packs to absorb some of it? Might be rubbish advice though coming from me but worth a test in your rig?

Cheers

Welcome fellow rain and cold sufferer! :welcome:  :toke: :vibe:

There's a good few UK folk lurking around on here. Everyone is really cool and happy to help so never be afraid to ask. Just not me as I is a muppet ;)

Has your shed got a window? Keep it open a little bit for fresh cool air supply and try and have the inlet for the tent on the window side?

Good luck with the neighbours. Mine came round recently to complain (politely) about the smell :jointman:

Once again, thanks for the input. I moved the tent, put some newspaper in as well and created a stealth intake vent in the shed door, also built an exhaust register at the eaves. Got beautiful negative pressure and my humidity is under 60% now and temp fluctuations are within what I consider acceptable levels and finally - silence from outside the shed. Just waiting for the beans to pop.
