Transplanting autos

i know a lot of people say don't transplant autoflowers but I have spoken to people who have so I know it's possible, I haven't tried it yet myself but I'd like to speak to people who have and maybe you have some advice for me? Thanks lol

Is that going to too much hassle can you germinate the seeds and plant them under some fluffed up mud lol

I haven't much outdoor experience any tips and information would be greatly appriciated

It's a good question. Mostly not recommended to transplant autos, but some folks have had success with it--probably experienced growers with a very healthy plant to begin with.

One way to alleviate the stress of transplanting is called tiering I think. You get a couple standard plastic nursery pots that stack together tightly (so it looks like you have one pot inside the other). You cut the bottom out of the inner pot though, so that at the time of transplanting, you just slide away the outer pot and you have the bottom exposed of the inner pot and just bury it most of the way into your soil. In this way you avoid handling the roots directly.

Another way that worked for me last year--I was using the felt/fabric type pouches (like smartpots), and just planted them halfway down into a larger pot. Roots did grow and fill the bottom of the larger pot so I can say that works well too.

If your trying to grow them outside in the natural ground I believe transplant would b your best bet. I've done it with 5 autos so far. They all were started in pint starter pots and transplanted between 7 and 13 days. I'd say around day ten is great. Transplant and give them their first feed and go from there. Going outside u might want to start in something a little bigger. ...or bury some puts just barely sticking out so lull plants stay safe. I've never grown out doors but weather is rough I hear! Lol

Nice reply Pete. I think transplanting early is key, especially with such a small starter pot like that. I think the results suffer if the plant gets root bound in early growth. I'd probably prefer 2 or 3 liters, but you've obviously done well with the size you used. I'm leaning toward plugging again with the fabric pots, but starting with a 1/2 gallon size....

Two reasons why....1. Regular seeds, will sow more than I need and select. 2. I'm going to try a self watering system, autopot or octopot, and I want to run a fairly hot organic soil, so I don't want to start directly from seed in that mix.

In taking my first stab at organics. Got a bunch of roots organics 707 and I got a toofless alien 8 days old in it. Trying to figure out what to do after 3 or 4 weeks so I ordered the companies nutrient sample pack and am looking into organic stuff to get a good quality organic finish. Just one plant. Everything else in running normal. Testing 2 lights and 2 fabric pots. One containing the roots organics. So far so good lol

Some interesting transplant strategies. Has anyone tried cow pots for transplanting? Been reluctant to transplant autos, tap root grows insanely fast

I love this idea and will be trying it out this summer with my 4 autos outdoors!(start them under lights for 30-45 days, so i'll use 3 gallon smartpots)
I did some transplanting indoors this round while running non-feminized seed, and felt it was pretty successful. I started the plants in 1gallon pots, and then transplanted them into 3 gallon airpots at around day 30-35(little later than I wanted due to not getting into town for more medium)
Here is one of the transplanted girls as of yesterday:
