New Grower Trapper's Scrimmage Grow (Semi-Micro)

Well,

Day 2 and something weird is happening...

Let me preface that by adding the caveat, "If the cheap soil ph analyzer is to be trusted and or believed"

When I first wet my soil down completely for the first time (to slight run off) my soil was testing 6.4-6.5

My plain RO/Oxygenated water has tested out (GH Dropper test) to roughly 6.2-6.5 (definitely has a good tinge of green, not pure yellow)

My soil in all three pots (the 2 smaller ones only started yesterday) is testing (cheap soil meter) sub 6 now, in some cases, substantially.

Should I ring water (not drench the seedling site) until I get run off and test the run-off?

I just find it odd that the 2 small pots, mixed and wetted yesterday are testing in the same range as the 3gal airpot started 6 days ago
all with seemingly good ph water. Also considering their is dolomite lime in the mix which is said to raise ph slightly.

Here is a pic of day 2 just for fun...

Hey Trap, yea sorry to say but those 'inexpensive' soil ph meters are not trust worthy.
Your baby looks very happy I don't see any ph issues at this point. From the looks of the pic (look towards the base of stem), and I may be wrong here, but it appears that you may want to back off on the water a bit. You may be just starting to get some dampening off. I stress you may be, but not positive.

No I would not flush the soil at this point.

I would recommend that you purchase (as soon as you can) a decent digital PH liquid meter.
I paid under $50 for this one, and it has served me very well for the year that I have used it.

Thanks, Stick...

It only looks that wet because I just gave her some water seconds before. I haven't been maintaining that liquid level, I had only misted it for the last day and a half or so.

Gave her (no jinxes) about 2-3 oz and ring watered a bit so dry outer soil wouldn't wick moisture away. And I only gave her that to see if it would change the ph reading.

Thanks for the suggestion...$50 I can swing.

I paid a fiver f mine off eBay but then had t wait about 8 weeks f it t arrive from china. Would have chopped me first youngsters down by now if not f that.
But anyways... Congrats on the dodgy PH meter :) your babies live t thrive another day :-D Hoorah!

Trapp, I forgot to mention make sure and get some 7.0 calibration solution. I think it is under $10 for a bottle that should last for years.

Peace!

That brings up a question...

I'm going to have to chop on a particular day, regardless of the plant's status, so I can dry enough to safely get into unsupervised cure.

I'm assuming that means drying to an R/H in the high 40's? Pretty dry here and ambient R/H is going to be around 20-25 in late June

Any guesses on how many days of hang I'm going to want?

(Of course, assuming something catastrophic doesn't happen before then...)
