ive seen some people grow photos up trees on another forum looks like a lot of work but pretty stealthy. some people were saying you might be able to bore a hole in a tree and then plant there in some soil and the plants roots would grow under the bark and get moisture from the tree. never saw results on that but it would be pretty cool if it worked, i was tempted to try something similar though im in a city so not right now.

retaining moisture wise maybe you could use those moisture crystals, usually advised against casue they hold so much. if youre aiming for waterlogged compared to a regular grow then no perlite vermiculite coco or fillers like that just as much soil as you can get up there.
good luck

My soil that I use indoor, is vertigro organic with 40% perlite and dried up in a day or two. Should I add moisture crystals or i was thinking about adding worm castings. What do you guys think?

Dont mean to be impacient with this thread, but would adding saw dust from pine 2x4 be alright to hold water? Or could adding beach sand help?
Oh and i am aware the sawdust would probaly make it acidic (currently pH perfect), so what can I use to correct this?

I would not use pine sawdust, especially not from treated pine. I would use hardwood, if it were not treated. I do add hardwood ash to my soil mix sometimes.

Ridgerunner

Thanks you. Does anyone know about the sand idea?

I'm really jealous of all you people who live in warm climates =P. Even during the summer here I don't think a plant would survive much. That or acid rain from nearby cities would screw it over =(.

My findings:
Sand helps with my soil, especially just a thin layer on top helps to slow evap. Of water. I found my soil dries to quick for sprouts so i used 2 cotton balls and pulled them apart to make a thin even layer moisture holding goodness. Then after sprout was big enough I backed filled with my soil so it was not a legthy SOB.

thanks! but chemically engineer stuff I try and steer clear of my girl is in her pine and I shall post pictures eventually.....Im slow :smoke:
