Trying To Open My Mind To Autoflowers

Welcome AutoSoup.
Most of the advice I'd give has already been stated.

Re: pot size, it depends on the cultivar. Smaller varieties like Strawberry Nuggets do great in 2 gal pots, medium varieties like 3 gal... I have had huge autos in hydroponics.

Given your small cabinet I would look for low stretch varieties. Opinions vary but I think that we have a bit less control over final size than photos because of the fixed automatic life cycle.

Not much room for scrog in a small cab. You could put screw-eyes around for the option of tie downs or to hold a net, but then your plants are in a fixed position and accessing the back will be difficult. Even in a 3x3 I have run into this situation.

Day length: @Frankthetank DLI chart is handy. Going by hours, some varieties do great at 20 hours, some are stressed but do great at 18 hours. Of course 20 hours necessitates closer watch over heat and airflow.

It helps to remember that ruderalis evolved in colder environments with less fertile soil and try to finish their life while the days are long and before the ground freezes.

Full strength Calmag!
Most other nutes and supplements at ¼ to ½ strength.

sorry a bit late to the post ive grown with biotabs for many years now, in fact, they sponsor me. My best advice is start in lightmix as been mentioned your main issue with them is dont overwater your plants and use plenty of perlite for drainage and @AutoSoup check my thread if you like bro ive used mainly autopots in my 4x4 tent in fact i have for 9 years and my smaller tent sometimes top watered with great results .ive also grown autos for my 1st 7 years plus but grow photos now

@VitaMan nice one for dropping in. I feel you on the scrog thing, I find them a real chore, but there's no denying they maximise yield and in a small space I find it's worth the back ache and a few stressful/awkward tucking sessions, I'll see if I can be arsed or not, at least me new cab is raised, doing it in my old 2x2x4 which was on the floor and working around a 50L bed was a nightmare 😂. I might just wait for pre flowers and then tie the main stem down, far less hassle, not quite as tidy but it still gives the lowers a chance to get some auxins, bit less popcorn at the end.

@St. Tom another bio tab grower, nice! Definitely going for light mix, do you use the recommend amount for your pot size for autos? I think it's 3 per 5l of soil iirc? Been a while since I used them.

I have used them . Not for me .
Just another product to belive in if you don't know what a plant needs.
The Internet has made growing a simple plant as hard as fuck . 🤣

Same Sawney from UK420? Been a while since I saw you over there if so.

I wholeheartedly agree with you TBH, people massively overcomplicate things. But for me biotabs are about as simple as you can get so I don't really understand that part. Maybe it's because I come from GGing veg growing and working as a landscaper, where slow release nutrients are the norm. To me working with liquid feeds is a chore/feels unnecessarily complex. To each their own I guess 🤙.

Get your Auto flower eye in...then if you don't mind scrog...follow ..to maximise your results... :headbang:

Alright mate.
I wasn't saying bio tabs make it difficult. The info all over the Internet is what confuses folk not simple feed products with a dummies guide to follow. Anyone can use a good put together product with instructions.
If you know what a plant needs you don't need a complete guide to succeed, plus environmental and light play a part to what folk use. I only use one feed with my soil . Can't get easier than that lol 😆

@Mossy yeah I'll probably just keep it simple for this one, wee bit of LST if it's needed.

We always say if you Learn to do it right the first time... Simply..the bells and whistles follow naturally..:watering:
