This light is not square, it's rectangular. If you look at the PAR table you'll see top and bottom sides have much better coverage than the other 2. I would say it covers 2'x2.5' in flower

We all know what it really covers the point here is why is Mars Hydro posting misleading information on their products. Vital information that is crucial to the buyers choice. As in OP's case. Something tells me he would have bought something else had he known what the real coverage is. I would be pretty upset myself if i bought 2 lights for 300 bucks that are supposed to cover a particular area only to find out they fall short of that and i was misled when buying them. Wouldn't you ?

And let me tell you something else, i remember very clearly when this light came out that initially they were claiming it covers a 3x3. I'll find some posts/pics proving it if you want.

This sort of practice is inexcusable, period.

Chill out pal, it's a great light, from experience.

I was trying to be diplomatic and not sound accusatory, but yea the real question I was thinking is " Is the advertisement just marketing?." Its actually stupid to do. I would have went with two ts2000w at 300w per if I knew that what I needed. And I would keep buying MarsHydro when I needed to upgrade. Well it's all a learning experience. I'll try them out and at the very least I have 2 veg lights.

I'm chill. I just want honesty and when I read that a unit is ideal for this at 150w for a 2.5x2.5 but then say that 187w is the minimum recommended I have to question it.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh you'll still get nice flowers out of that setup buddy it's just that it won't be ideal coverage at the edges that's all. That's right, we live and learn but this one wasn't your fault. I actually wanted to get a 3x3 initially with that light as that was what was written as the bloom coverage on their website at that time and it sounded too good to be true but when i did some research i realized there is no way it could cover that. But that did encourage me to do ALOT more research on lighting which ended being a good idea and in the end i ended up getting the SP-250 with their 2x4 tent.

It appears jumping in here that Mars Hydro might just not be totally aware and by starting out with a bigger footprint would be based on my actual assumption of what it can do. Maybe they decided to make it lower so as not to over shoot expectations.

I run white light full spectrum QB and I can tell you the wattage per square foot is very low. Most of my autos can’t handle 150w per plant. I can pull 6-8 with around 100-125 per plant. I think you could flower a 3 by 3 with that light if it had the spread. I wouldn’t sweat the wattage. Get closer and dim them early on. Full spectrum is going to impress you, and if you run them correctly, save a ton of $$$$$$

"30-50 Watts per square foot" I have to admit that this is our initial recognition, at that time we only sold purple led. The coverage area of the light is not only dependent on the wattage, but also depends on the Par, and we set the coverage area of the light according to this. Thank you for pointing out my mistake.

I just rotate my plants when I feed em. Plants are doin great in 2 x 3 w/ 1 ts1000
