Hey y'all ... I'd like to buy or have made a turntable that is big enough to handle one large potted plant, probably about 25 lbs. I want this turntable to turn very slowly, perhaps less than 1 rpm. I also would like the turntable to be powered by solar panels activated by the LED plant light. Along w/ very even growth I think that this would be incredibly cool in the corner of a room. I guess the solar panels powering the unit would be icing on the cake but not as necessary as a slow moving turntable ... any ideas where I could find such a thing ... ??

I haven't been looking in the right places ... http://www.global-merchants.com/home/planturn.htm

It wouldn't be hard to build one yourself. Buy one of these http://www.homedepot.com/buy/shepherd-6-in-lazy-susan-turntable-9548.html. Cut a round piece of plywood for the top, and build a housing on the bottom to hold and support a motor capable of continuous operation. Mount pulley on the bottom of the plywood and one on the motor shaft with a small belt. A large O ring would work good. The size of your pulleys will determine how fast it rotates.

After further exploration at the link I posted I see they have one that handles up to 15 kgs for $26 shipped ... I'll order one tomorrow and report on it when it arrives ... Thanks Muddy ... :joint:
