Twenty20 Mendocino - SparkleFace : A photoperiod from Twenty20

Going to be grown in coco coir in a 1.5gal airpot with Jacks 3-2-1 nutrients

As usual, extremely fast germination. I think this one split as it barely hit the water!

Twenty20 Mendocino : Sparkle Face - Day 1: 05/04/22

We have liftoff.

Loaded a 1.5gallon AirPot with Cyco Pearl Coco Coir
Rinsed/presoaked with Jacks 321 "Clone" product.
Mixed 2.6g of "Clone" with 1.1ml of DynaGro Protekt Silica into 1 gallon of distilled water
Final mix was 6.1pH and 371ppm

Ran the full gallon through until the runoff started to drop the ppm to near input.

Presoak volumes. Test the amount and pH/ppm to ensure it is where I would like. It also looks like this pot of coco can hold about 1.5L before it is fully saturated.

Day 1 above soil:

Something looked funky so I dug it up thinking there were possibly two heads trying to poke through. Instead I found this nice long root coiled into a "U" shape. The end of the root is almost next to the cotyledons. Not worried as one of my last T20 seeds did this and ended up being an absolute monster. I can only suspect that I didn't soak the pellet enough or it had a hard spot inside that forced the root back up. Could be low QC on the box I bought.

Buried sideways. Hope the root has the best chance to turn and head down as it should.

Hydro Halo installed. I am using the 9" Hydro Halos. They fit the 1.5g airpots nicely and I attach a long section of 1/2" hose with a funnel on the end. Makes hand watering much easier for me. Once the plants get big I find it difficult to reach in and water.

Oh shoot. I forgot a pic of it's resting spot under a grow light. I'll update soon. Thanks for reading.

Day 6: 5/9 - Just shy of one week.
Quick update;

Everything looking well. Stem has turned upwards and I suspect the root is headed the right direction. Being moved into the tent tomorrow. Ran 1L of seedling mix through the coco this evening to about 600ml of runoff. The first 500ml resulted in nothing so I put another 500ml in.

Day 9: Odd day for an update but I was adding a new pot and seed to the tent so snapped a quick pic. As expected, standing up nice and straight on it's own. If you get a funky looking sprout with a coiled up root, just set em sideways and see if it doesn't make it.

Ran another 500ml of seedling mix through, just a steady 75F and 75%rh for now.

really looking forwards to you killing it with these strain s

Day 15: Start of week 3

@Twenty20 Adam - I'd love your input on when to increase/switch to full strength nutrients. This is the Sparkleface special edition seed. I can't remember your photoperiod specialist who posted here a couple times. I'd like to pick his brain too!

Everything is moving along nicely. Maybe not as tall as it could be due to the rooting issues in the first couple days but, looking strong. I'm also used to the speed of autos so this could be completely normal growth.

Environment has been a steady 75-77f and 75%rh. Tonight the plant got it's first real fertigation. Running 80% strength Jacks 3-2-1.

Funny thing on the Jacks formula is that 80% is actually 3g Part A, 2g Part B, and 1g Epsom salt.

I adjust slightly and add 1ml of silica to 1gal of distilled water and then 3g A, 2g B and 1.1g Epsom
Final numbers came out to 5.8pH and 704ppm
The ppm count seems high but my last run of plants seemed to really like the 80% blend. I do bump the epsom just a hair to 1.1g, the silica amount varies a bit. Looks like I will need to try 1.2ml on the next mix to get just a slightly higher pH going in. 5.8 is acceptable and I find the nute blend is very very stable for several days. I will push to full strength for photoperiod plants in the next week or so.

Prior fertigation with seedling mix:
Day 10: 500ml in @ 335ppm/5.9pH - 260ml out 415/6.3
Day 12: 275ml in 341ppm/6.0pH 150ml out 429/6.1

5/18 Day 15 week 3 : 80% blend - 300ml in 704ppm/5.8pH : 115ml out 429ppm/6.1pH

Day 21: End of week 3. Still running only the 80% blend of the Jacks 3-2-1. Everything is looking well so I may push the full strength in the upcoming week. Topped tonight as well. Watering once a day every other day. Volume increased from 300ml to 400ml. Had another drop in runoff volume so I will increase the fertigation to 500ml. The ppm numbers fluctuate slightly but eh, pretty stable overall especially the pH.

D17 - 300ml in 704ppm/5.8pH : 88ml out 422ppm/6.1pH

D18 - nothing added

D19 - IN 400ml 6.1pH/692ppm
OUT 215ml 6.1pH/399ppm

D20 - nothing added

D21- End of week 3 400ml
IN 400ml 6.0pH/689ppm
OUT 165ml 6.5pH/328ppm
