Hiya mate
I live in the uk east anglia region and i have been growing outside for the last 10 years or so.
What do you want to grow photos or autos and how far north are you

SPopat, you may want to start by looking through the outdoor/greenhouse forum https://www.autoflower.org/f6/
A lot of good info in there, including UK grows.

I'm not an expert just grow for myself and with plenty of trial and error have found what works for me.
First work out which way the sun goes round your garden rises in the east and sets in the west so you want to find the sunniest spot that gets the sun longest
Soil preparation is a must if your using the ground instead of pots, if you can the autumn before your grow dig in some well rotted manure or a good quality fertilizer
If you dont have time then dig in some good quality compost. Start your seeds of inside I usually start mine in march time once they sprout and have 2 sets of leaves start putting them outside during the day bringing them in at night due to late frosts.
Mine go outside full time once the chance of any frost has gone but at night if you can lift them off the ground away from the colder air.
It's as easy as that when their big enough stick them in the ground or final pot (but be aware autos do not like being transplanted)
Make sure you keep an eye on when they need a drink which in the uk isnt very often outside haha you can feed them but i never have when grown in the ground except for a bit of liquid tomato food
This year is my first outdoor auto and shes been outside since the end of april and survived thunderstorms torrential rain etc no problems i have a jouranal in dope seeds thread
Anything else you need to know just ask away there are plenty of people on here who know alot more than I do

Thanks peteey.. yes ive researched and studied my garden, and gained general info about the plant itself and maintaining it...

Now i just want to pick a good outdoor strain, and plant it.. I want to use a pot, and i know i need a big pot due to the roots growth so i dnt need to transplant it when it grows...
As i want to grow in a pot, i want to know what soil/compost you would recommend and what fertilizer if any can you recommend?

Living in leicester i am use to smoking blueberry/cheese and different strains of haze.... ive looked at an outdoor purple cheese strain i want to grow... is there any potent strain for a beginner to grow?

Dull, grey, cloudy mostly raining with one or two days of sun to which we call summer.

Welcome to the UK.
